COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Moose Drool is our Brown Ale. Far and away the best selling beer brewed in Montana, Moose Drool is chocolate brown in color with a creamy texture. Our brown ale is a malty beer with just enough hop presence to keep it from being too sweet. The aroma also mostly comes from the malt with a hint of spiciness being added by the hops. Moose Drool is brewed with pale, caramel, chocolate, and whole black malts; and Kent Goldings, Liberty, and Willamette hops. It has an original gravity of 13 degrees Plato, and is 4.2% alcohol by weight, 5.3% by volume.
Note: ABV went down to 5.1%.

Yet another dark ale with a weird name. It’s true to tradition in another way: excellent taste. There’s a lot going on here. Varying types of sweetness from the numerous malts and a complex, spicy flavor coming from the hops. Yet, the brew is far from overwhelming. Better yet, it makes for a great session beer. Not the best brown ale in the world, but its good reputation is very well deserved.

Notes from review 7.2.10 Pour from bottle to perfect pint. A: This is a BROWN, brown ale. Excellent clarity. Continuous ribbons rise to merge into half finger light tan head hugging the glass. S: Smells of butter and honey highlight the roatiness of the malt. Little to no hop smells. T: Nice, lightly vanilla flavor to the brown ale flavors. Full nut brown ale flavor which finishes with light tartness. M: medium body ale with moderate low carbonation allows the mouth to enjoy at wide range temperatures 40-60 degrees F. Leaves tongue dry and refreshed; ready for another bite of food, or more fittingly, drink of beer. D: Very drinkable beer! Understand why this is their flagship. Of the Big Sky beers, this is the evident standout for the price point in their lineup. Serving type: bottle 12-21-2010

Light caramel taste with a smokey finish. The taste is very simple with a little bit of spice. The saving grace is the finish. No bitterness though and very drinkable.

A really nice dark brown ale. Pours dark brown with a pale head. The taste is rich and smooth, not as bitter as some dark ales. Just as good cold as room temperature.

This brown ale is light to medium in body. It is well hopped, but the malt taste is fairly weak, and there is an off-taste. It has an average head and is medium brown in color.

a very good brown ale. Caramel and toffee notes makes this a nice balanced beer.
