Cool name and bottle but not a great tasting beer. Not a huge Brown ale fan. Drinkable

Nice brown ale with nutty taste and smooth finish. Definitely a good brown ale when "Downtown Brown" is not available.

From a bottle at the Raven Grill in Gardiner MT. Pours a dark amber with a fine ecru. Malty nose. Flavors of biscuit with a hint of toffee. Creamy mouthfeel.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep brown, clear body with a tall tan head. Malty, chocolate, nutty, slightly toasty aroma - true to the brown ale style. Toasted caramel malt flavor, also a little nutty. Finish starts a bit dry roasted and mellows to a mild sweet caramel. Palate is creamy, smooth medium bodied with medium carbonation.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours deep brown, almost black. Head was bursting then disappeared quick. Nose is mild, a hint of chocolate malt, nothing much after. Taste is creamy, milk chocolate, maybe a mild nuttiness, that’s about it. Not much flavor, but all in all, a very drinkable beer.

12oz bottle into pint glass, Stacey’s Bar in Gallatin Gateway, MT. Pours very dark amber color, tan head. Smells nutty, with an earthy piney aroma. Tastes very malty, also caramel taste. Finishes well. Decent beer, great for montana winters.

Can. Pours a very dark brown color with a fairly thick tan head on it. So glad I found this again after being apart from it for so long. Nose if very malt forward with a lot of nuttiness coming off the aroma. Taste has a little toasting to it, but the nutty tones dominate the flavor, too. I’ve missed this, but not as fantastic as I remember.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Doesn't smell like much. Pretty standard for a brown ale: bland, boring, drinkable. A bit nutty on the palate amidst the creamy malt; mildly hoppy at the end. I don't understand the love for this beer.
