2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
12oz Can- this review reflects the canned product only. I am normally a can fan and always eager to try a product that I can get both bottled and canned to compare. This one fell short of it’s bottled form and well short of the draft form. Still a very good brown, just a hint of toastiness and touch of molasses. Can formula needs a bit of tweaking.
I give the bottle a solid 3.2 and draft a 3.5

Bottle poured a clear brown, w/ a medium creamy beige head diminishing to a thin cap w/ thick lacing. Light roasted malt aroma. Initial flavor is a light sweet w/ a light bitter finish. Tastes are brown sugar, malt, and caramel. Light to medium body, watery mouthfeel w/ a light creaminess. It’s OK but seems a bit thin. It leaves you wanting just a bit more flavor and more body.

From a bottle. Faint roasted caramel aroma, smooth with an almost sweet flavour of toffee.

Not a bad beer. Far from my favorite brown ale but it was still alright. Wouldn’t recommend it to anyone but would have it again.

UPDATED: APR 5, 2014 12 oz can. The beer pours to a dark brown with a thick off white head. The aroma is mellow with some coffee, roasty smell. The taste is mild with a strong malt backbone & a little hop bitterness to it. Overall a good brown ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A decent brown ale. Served from bottle to mah drankin mug. Poor lacing. Was on sale for 7.49 for a sixer, I wouldn’t buy it if it was regular price.

Dark semi sweet malts trending to caramel. Subtle hops. Substancial brew pairing with barbeque.

Bottle. Pretty thin aroma, but has notes of chocolate and caramel malt. Pours medium brown with a thin, tan head and no lacing. It tastes great. Starts with mostly caramel malt sweetness with just a pinch of chocolate. Finishes smooth with a slightly hoppy finish to cut the sweetness of the malt. One of my favorite brown ales.

At Firkin Fest, with chili peppers and cocoa nibs. Really nice balance of flavors while keeping drinkability. Well done.
