Pours an amber tone that is closer to red. Predominant caramel and toffee aroma. A very full bodied and drinkable brown. Doesn’t come off like a Nut Brown though. Extremely hard to come by on the east coast and worth it if you find it. Come on Montana...learn how to distribute!

12oz bottle into pint glass, Stacey’s Bar in Gallatin Gateway, MT. Pours very dark amber color, tan head. Smells nutty, with an earthy piney aroma. Tastes very malty, also caramel taste. Finishes well. Decent beer, great for montana winters.

Can. Pours a very dark brown color with a fairly thick tan head on it. So glad I found this again after being apart from it for so long. Nose if very malt forward with a lot of nuttiness coming off the aroma. Taste has a little toasting to it, but the nutty tones dominate the flavor, too. I’ve missed this, but not as fantastic as I remember.

Doesn't smell like much. Pretty standard for a brown ale: bland, boring, drinkable. A bit nutty on the palate amidst the creamy malt; mildly hoppy at the end. I don't understand the love for this beer.

On tap at the Public House (Las Vegas). Pours a clear orangey brown with average-sized eggshell head with decent retention. Aroma is toasty caramel, sweetish chocolate and nuts. Flavour is fairly chocolatey with nuts and toasty caramel. Modest bitterness in finish. Solid.

Pours brown with good head but not much lacing. Aroma is sweet, nutty malts with a touch of coffee and caramel. Taste is sweet as well - roasted malts and nuts. Mouthfeel is thin and slick with healthy carbonation and a crisp finish.

12 oz bottle consumed at the Grand Canyon in a silipint.
pours clear dark brown with reddish highlights and a moderate and durable dark tan head. Nice aroma of dark malts, dark fruits and some yeast. The flavor starts faint but builds to a satisfying malty mix of dark bread, toast, caramel, raisins and dates.
M: creamy smooth with excellent, medium carbonation. Medium-full body.
O: Excellent brown ale!

3rd Feb 2013, Super Bowl day: pint into a plastic cup in ’Jacks bar in the Cannery’ (San Fransisco).
Dark ruby body (the bar was dark too), thin tanned head.
Mild chocolate notes in the malty nose.
The taste was also chocolate and malty with a semi-sweet undertone throughout the tasting.
Body was fine for the flavours and alcohol level, I enjoyed it, even in a plastic cup!
