3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
(2012 bottle from Sparky, thanks E!) Pours a hazy reddish orange color with a towering off-white colored head. Surprised by how much carb is here for a 2 yr. old bottle; the cork literally flew out of the bottle upon opening. Aromas here are a big bomb of brown sugar, light vanilla, wood, dried apricots, raisins, and a glimmer of strawberry jam. Not really picking up any oxidation or off-scents so I donít think itís infected, itís just highly carbed. Getting a slight chocolate vibe after some warming which is strange. Flavor contains more prominent strawberry jam (thereís a slight tanginess here), vanilla, oak, little hint of char, brown sugar, and raisins. Little hint of red vines too in the far finish. Mouthfeel is lighter than expected and the carb is lower than expected. Overall a solid BA Barleywine. Thanks again E!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Global Brew. Pours a hazy orange with a decent thin small bead white head that coats the glass. Aroma is a container of mixed fruit and the syrup. Taste is sweet caramel malt, pineapple juice, buttery, boozy with slight yeast funk. A bit cloying. Really good stuff.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Hazy medium to dark amber. Nice tan head. Smells sweet and grainy. Very carbonated. Alcohol is certainly there but not boozy. Plenty of alcohol warmth. I keep getting what comes off as grain to me... honey perhaps? Strange. I guess Iím struggling to make sense of this one somehow. Different from any other barley wine I can recall.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from bottle to glass. Orange hue with nice white head. Aroma is malty, honey, caramel, floral, sugar. Mouthfeel is fantastic with full body and nice carbonation. Taste is sweet throughout with a slight bitter following and a nice ethanol finish. Overall this is a great English style Barleywine.

Slightly hazy amber with a thin white cap. Playful candy ish nose of ginger and toffee and raisin and cherry and sweet figs and brown sugar. Pleasant flavor of boozy toffee, raisins, a bit of biscuity cocoa, light figs, a bit of Belgian candi sugar (only a bit), with a sweet nutty malty tone. Very swell.

UPDATED: MAR 3, 2014 Traded 2010 bottle #2111/3000. Nice amber and bronze color with a medium brown head. Big aroma that reminds me off a big fruity, boozy, quad with hints of vanilla and wood. Nice caramel flavor that gives way to sugar and a little booze. Itís big but tasty.

750ml bottle pours a hazy brown with some frothy, white head. Nose has a lot of wet cork, some butyric acid, caramel, vanilla, vegetal. Flavor is boozy, sweet, lightly tart, more butyric acid, cardboard. Way gone.
