Pretty enjoyable brew. Nothing exceptionally special about it but pretty enjoyable.

Really a bizarre brew for me. Clear orange with skimpy clear white head. A simple sweet malt nose with spice undertones. To me this tastes like burnt caramel, plants, and popcorn. Thick malt. An unusual flavor combo that somehow works. Strangely enjoyable.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottled Unk, vintage 2011
A: copper with two fingers of off-white billowed foam falls to a sheet of the same and leaves behind cobweb lace. Excellent clarity.
S: Earthy hops, tea and some metallic malts.
T: Malt. Sweet malt and some metallic off flavors. Quite sweet.
M: Medium bodied with low carb and a semi dry finish.
O: Meh, okay, sessionable. Would drink if already drunk. Really unobtrusive.

We did a blind taste test between this and 4 other Winter Seasonals to objectively determine which one was best. They beers were: Deschutes Jubelale, Anderson Valley Boont Winter Solstice, Big Sky Powder Hound, Alaskan Winter Ale, and Redhook Winterhook. Check it out:

Tasty, refreshing. Smooth entry, nice hop profile. Alcohol is masked. Aroma indicates low hopping, which is not the case. Medium creamy mouthfeel, drinkable and quenching. Easy drinker was more like a pale ale than a british strong.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours orangish-gold with white head. Taste floral, fruity, sweet. I thought this was good. I would drink this again.

This one poured a dark orange with an off white head. Aroma was of caramel, light grassy hops. Flavor was similar, caramel, moderately sweet, and grassy hops. Boring but nothing wrong with it.

Bottle. Copper with large white head. Aroma of floral/earthy hops and malt. Medium body with floral/earthy hop bitterness upfront and a nice malt backbone. Not what I was expecting from a Winter Ale

Bottle, pretty clear orange-amber, finger of white head. Nose is grainy, almost rye-like, British hops evident. A little spruce, a little juniper, lemon pith. Oily body, dry finish, astringent, hint of whisky malt. Cool beer.
