2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Sham (1846) - Seattle, Washington, USA - NOV 5, 2003
Pours mahogany, with almost no head. Malt aromas, with some nutty hints, just a bit sour or musty. Flavor starts out malty, then slightly sweet, finishing a bit citrusy. All of it seems a bit muted. The palate is a bit cloying though. Nothing outstanding about this one.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Reid (1596) - Salem,Oregon, Oregon, USA - NOV 1, 2003
Comes in a 12 oz brown long neck with a picture of what looks like a sled dog on the label.
Very nice looking dark brown coloured beer, with a 1 inch creamy off white head..dissapates but leaves excellent lacing down the glass.
Very strong aroma of roasted malts and an almost wine like alcohol scent..detect some spiciness.
Nice strong chocolate malt taste, then mid tongue it gets spicy almost peppery shows some slight hops at the end..and a good alcohol warming in the throat.
Very nice on the tongue not dry at all.great long lasting aftertaste.
I was surprised how much I liked this ale even in the early summer..pretty drinkable in my books.

A brown clear ale with an off white head. A caramel aroma and a touch sweet. The flavor is bitter up front with caramel and some nuttiness to follow. The bitter does linger a bit.

Reddish brown with a tiny white head. Looks very carbonated. Smells of caramel, hops and malt. Taste hops, caramel and malt and has that wet dog flavor.
