TheAlum (6942) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - APR 18, 2010
12 oz bottle from Binnys singles rack (Naperville, IL). Pours a nice deep copper, still fiery edges, a very large khaki head dies to a decent level, leaves a good lacing with a more cakey head. Aromas are citrusy hops, orange marmalade, caramel and toffee sweet sticky malts, a touch of toast. Initial is lighter bodied than expected, orange marmalade, bubblegum, florals, toasted malts with sweet caramel and toffee, a decent bitterness, faint spiciness, a touch of soapiness. The beer is toasty, considerably thinner than expected, goes down easily if not a bit too sweet for my liking. Simple, caramel and toast mix with a decent bitterness that the sweetness largely overtakes. Orange marmalade, jelly, preserves, fruity but malty. Not bad, just not a preferred drink on my part.

Strykzone (6720) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - NOV 4, 2010
This beer pours a clear honey golden with a thin pasty head. Almost no carbonation to be seen. Amazingly small aroma but the flavor is much bigger and more aggressive. Big malts with significant hop notes. Citrus fruit is both sweet and tart. Soft caramel. There is a bit of cinnamon spice and some metal. To me this was craft beer meets high gravity.

5000 (6599) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - DEC 24, 2004
Bottle pours brownish amber, slightly hazy, large frothy tannish colored head, very sticky lacing, with light carbonation.   Malty aroma, slightly sweet and biscuity.   Soft hop bitterness, amidst a grainy maltiness.   Mild overripened fruit flavor as well.   Nice body, but mediocre mouthfeel.   Finishes with a slightly syrupy sweet cloying feeling, if that makes sense.   A bit heavier than yer normal English Pale Ale, but not bad.

Bottle, amber brown pour with stiff short head, aroma of sour nuts and caramel, flavor is similar to Moose Drool with more sour notes and an English finish

Pailhead (6404) - Plymouth, Michigan, USA - FEB 19, 2006
Bottle: Courtesy of DarkElf via trade. Malty aroma of caramel and toffee with a touch of hops and metal. Pours a very dark amber with a decent off-white head with some staying power. Flavor is a watery caramel up front and some light chocolate in the middle. Finishes with some weak nutty metallic hops. Rather mediocre if you ask me.

This one poured a dark orange with an off white head. Aroma was of caramel, light grassy hops. Flavor was similar, caramel, moderately sweet, and grassy hops. Boring but nothing wrong with it.

The beer pours a golden-orange color with a white head. The aroma is heavy on the toffee with some caramel and grassy hops mixed in. The flavor is toffee and bready malt. There is a little bit of hop bitterness and a tad bit of flavor from the grassy hops, but this beer is all about the malt. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. When I opened the beer I was expecting a winter warmer. It was a surprise to see a lighter colored amber ale, but the beer was still enjoyable.
