TheAlum (5833) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - APR 18, 2010
12 oz bottle from Binnys singles rack (Naperville, IL). Pours a nice deep copper, still fiery edges, a very large khaki head dies to a decent level, leaves a good lacing with a more cakey head. Aromas are citrusy hops, orange marmalade, caramel and toffee sweet sticky malts, a touch of toast. Initial is lighter bodied than expected, orange marmalade, bubblegum, florals, toasted malts with sweet caramel and toffee, a decent bitterness, faint spiciness, a touch of soapiness. The beer is toasty, considerably thinner than expected, goes down easily if not a bit too sweet for my liking. Simple, caramel and toast mix with a decent bitterness that the sweetness largely overtakes. Orange marmalade, jelly, preserves, fruity but malty. Not bad, just not a preferred drink on my part.

Mora2000 (5780) - McKinney, Texas, USA - DEC 3, 2010
The beer pours a golden-orange color with a white head. The aroma is heavy on the toffee with some caramel and grassy hops mixed in. The flavor is toffee and bready malt. There is a little bit of hop bitterness and a tad bit of flavor from the grassy hops, but this beer is all about the malt. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. When I opened the beer I was expecting a winter warmer. It was a surprise to see a lighter colored amber ale, but the beer was still enjoyable.

riversideAK (5625) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - DEC 31, 2008
Aroma is toasty, roasty, a little sweet, with a touch of aspirin. Pours amber ish. Flavors of toasted malts, caramel, toffee. Some roast all with a almost unpleasant medicinal finish. Not my favorite.

Bit of a funky aroma upon pouring. a little too sweet for my liking - but I’m sure if it was winter in Montana I would want something chewy like this.

Clear golden with a fizzy white head. Caramel oats and cereal grain aroma and taste with a sharp grainy finish.

Cornfield (5506) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - JUN 4, 2007
This has a good looking pour, a clear reddish brown body with a solid, creamy beige head that laces nicely. The aroma is caramel with a touch of butterscotch, cherries and fresh apples, and a hint of wood. It’s a bit watery or I’d rate it higher. Otherwise, the flavor nicely reflects the aroma. Just a touch of herbal/earthy bitterness is added at the end. Good.

BückDich (5464) - McCall, Idaho, USA - NOV 5, 2003
Pours a deep mahogany color with nice head and decent lacing for the style. The aroma is very light with a musty hop presence to it. The flavor was pretty assertive compared to the aroma, large hop presence with a citrus/pine finish. The finish lasted a little too long though, made the mouth feel slightly dirty. This wasn't that great of an EPA and an even worse winter ale.

Medium brown color, medium head. A medium bodied brown ale, spiced with nutmeg and cinnamon. Slightly sweet malts, slight orange taste. Good flavor. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Bottle courtesy of hopdog! Ruby body with a small tan head. Nose is malty and fruity with caramel notes, rich toffee, dark fruits, and brown sugar. It almost smells like a dessert. Can’t place my finger on it, though. Taste is malty and slightly floral. Some caramel and toffee notes along with ripened fruits and soft nutty flavors. Body is creamy and smooth. Mild carbonation with an overall medium feel. Finishes with more caramel, bigger fruit notes, light hops, light toffee and toasty malts. Touch of brown sugar as well. Nice!

Picked up single 12-oz bottle at Cellars Wine & Spirits in St Paul, MN. Pours a clear deep coppery amber brew with an average sized beige head that slowly dissolves to a thin head that has good retention and lacing. Aroma of sweet roasted caramel malt, some dark pitted fruits, flowery hops and a touch of iced green tea. Taste is medium to full bodied with some light carbonation along with flavors of dark pitted fruits such as cherries, plums and figs. Finish is smooth, creamy with a mild bitter aftertaste along with some fruity character. This winter brew will keep me full.
