2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Clear orange amber color with a lasting light golden/tan head. Aroma of light malt, anise, and stomach acid. Slightly sour orange flavors, along with mild malt. Very sour/bitter finish makes you want to drink something else.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle, via Indiana_Red. Pours a clear mahogany with a amall, fine-bubbled, off-white head. Low citric hop aroma over a sweet toffee and caramel malt base. Accent notes of tea and perfumy hops. Very fruity and malty flavor with a lightly bitter finish. A little too sweet for my tastes. Medium bodied with a sticky mouthfeel and pleasant low carbonation composed of fine bubbles. Not a bad beer, but nothing outstanding. Overall, it’s pretty sweet with an alcoholic kick that gets a little tiring on the palate by the end of the bottle.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: NOV 14, 2005 A good beer just needs more malt, hops and time. This was just not a great winter warmer. Some people say to give it time to gain flavor I think this beer is missing it’s winter flavor and will never gain it. I am hoping this is just a bad bottle.

2.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
This beer pours a clear honey golden with a thin pasty head. Almost no carbonation to be seen. Amazingly small aroma but the flavor is much bigger and more aggressive. Big malts with significant hop notes. Citrus fruit is both sweet and tart. Soft caramel. There is a bit of cinnamon spice and some metal. To me this was craft beer meets high gravity.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Crisp amber with a light cream head. Bready malts and bitter hops on the noise. Nice palate, flavor is a burst of bitter hops, followed by a thick malt backbone with a chewy finish.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle (thanks, Jake!). Malty, slightly sweet aroma with notes of caramel and cherry, possibly a little toast. Clear red body with a lacing, creamy tan head. Bittersweet. Big, big body with lots of malt and notes of cherry, toffee, toast, caramel, and just a smidgen of salty licorice. Nutty with a slight wine quality. Wee molasses with indeterminate spice (nutmeg?) far in the bg. Very dry and lightly bitter aftertaste. Alcohol is nowhere apparent. Pleasant sipper, I would take this again any day. Well, not Dark Lord Day.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear light copper coloured body with a honey golow and a nice, thick dense off-white head with a nice lace leftover. Aroma of strong, bright citrus and grapefruit hops, yeast, apricots, coriander seed, curacao, honey and some pungent malt - very nice indeed. Medium-bodied; Biting hop flavour at first with a good malt backbone, some light yeast flavours, a touch of bright sweetness and a little alcohol flavour near the end. Good yeast and honey flavours to finish it off and a little light hoppiness in the aftertaste. Overall, a good beer - not too strong and not too weak, but a good beer for the season and a variation from the typical, roasted malt beer during this time of the year - nice! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 16-January-2011 for US$2.59 sampled at home in Washington on 12-March-2011.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle: Courtesy of DarkElf via trade. Malty aroma of caramel and toffee with a touch of hops and metal. Pours a very dark amber with a decent off-white head with some staying power. Flavor is a watery caramel up front and some light chocolate in the middle. Finishes with some weak nutty metallic hops. Rather mediocre if you ask me.
