Bit of a funky aroma upon pouring. a little too sweet for my liking - but I’m sure if it was winter in Montana I would want something chewy like this.

Malt and caramel aromas. Very dark orange with a head that lasts. More malt and caramel in the taste. Seems like an English strong without being ruined by alcohol flavors.

12oz. bottle. Dark amber brown color with a small light tan head. Caramel, toffee, and herbal hop aromatics. Smooth caramel flavors with some raisin. Slight bitter vegetal hop component in the finish. Mouthfeel is medium, rather smooth.

UPDATED: OCT 4, 2006 Thank to Degarth. Pours a dark amber almost brown. Bigtime crystal malt in this one, very sweet caramel and brown sugar come through, followed big by citrusy hops, not bad, but also not very christmas like, good beer just not really my style, too hoppy.

Felt thin, then again for as cheap as this was I didn’t expect it to bee to thick or pack too much of a buzz. Good but not outstanding. I’ve heard so much about Moose Drool that I figured I’d try a single of this since it was available at Blue Max but I can’t see myself trying any Big Sky again since they tend to offer only middle-of-the-road stuff.

Bottled at City Beer, San Francisco. Mahogany colour, smal head. Roasty and nutty. Malt driven with clean rounded mouthfeel and medium boy. Mild and warming with notes of butter and tobacco. Low bitterness.

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear mahogany with a one finger creamy head. Nice head retention and lively carbonation. Aroma is a bit funky almost metallic. Unfortunately, the finish had an overwhelming metallic taste. Initial flavor of roasted malt, nutty and almost undetectable spices. Easy drinking, but there are much better winter ales out there.

12oz bottle. Poured a medium to deeper orangish color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of toffee, caramel, roast, and chocolate. Tastes of toffee, roasted and toasted malts, and lightly fruity.

On Firkin tap at The Front Door Boise, Pours out a amber topped with a sand head. Aroma light malt. Tast more of the malt a touch hops for the bitterness. Not bad but not a strong winter ale.
