COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pygmy Owl is an IPA with full fledged hop taste and aroma, yet is remarkably low in alcohol. In fact, it clocks in at only 4.2% ABV. An IPA with full flavor, but without the harsh bitterness. And the best part, you can have more than one without getting that drunkied up feeling.
Availability: February-April

Itís getting harder and harder to find a new (to me) IPA on the shelves during this Session IPA fad-craze-whatever now that the weather is warm. T^his one pours a pale yellow body filled with bubbles, all under a skinny near film of a head. It smells purdy, grapefruit and lemon zest with a faint pale malt sweetness. The body seems a bit watery. It tastes lemony with a weak malt sweetness and really is lacking in bitterness until the finish, and then itís fairly faint. This had a promising beginning, but kind of fizzled out.

Bottle from Metro Liquor, Victoria
Hazy blond color with small head. Both aroma and flavor have a paper character; the body is thin; it has a light citrusy touch, and correct bitterness.
Boring.

Average. Pours a boring yellow. Some fruity aromas and flavors. Some paper flavors as well. Pretty boring session.

Itty Bitty in alcohol, perhaps, but not in taste with pine and citrus dominating. Light and refreshing.

5000 (6211) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - JUN 23, 2014
Bottle;   Soft aroma, a little pith, soft tea leaves.   A bit more bright on the tongue.   Light but smooth.   To be expected I guess.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Soft tea leaf like hoppiness to finish.   Tiz okay, even a bit light for a Session IPA, but clean.

DuffMan (6531) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 19, 2014
Bottle. Bright light yellow body with a soapy lasting head that laces generously. Lemony pithy white grapefruit and lean crackery malts, clean and bright. Iím not sure why this doesnít get higher ratings-- this is a terrific summer session brew!
