COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pygmy Owl is an IPA with full fledged hop taste and aroma, yet is remarkably low in alcohol. In fact, it clocks in at only 4.2% ABV. An IPA with full flavor, but without the harsh bitterness. And the best part, you can have more than one without getting that drunkied up feeling.
Availability: February-April

12oz picked up a while back... I forget where I found it, but a fair number of places have it available now... Pours a pale straw... decent enough white head with spotty lacing.. Nose shows biscuity malt with bunches of lemony and grassy hops.. Flavor strikes me as a pretty heavy wheat/pale maltiness for anything labeled close to an IPA... but the bitterness balances pretty well and a good amount of light citrus and herbal/lite pine hops come in and make this very drinkable. Light body... good carbonation.. plenty of flavor... Pretty darn nice.

This beer is slightly hazy golden with a two finger white head that left plenty of lacing. The aroma is citrusy and grassy. The taste is rather light up front but finishes with a extremely mild hop and citrus kick. To be honest this beer doesn’t really taste like an ipa all that much and if I were rating it on the style it is rather low. However, there is nothing bad about the beer and worth a try but don’t expect this to be anything like a regular ipa as it is weaker than most other session ipa’s

Bottle @ RG 21. Yellow with thin head and light lacing. Smells like peach gummies and cat piss. Watery flavor. Thin.

Bottle pour @ the 21st Richmond Gathering. Bottle via trade. Light gold with a small head. Nose is pretty papery. Come candy corn. Doesn’t smell like a session IPA to me. Taste is very papery. Light a knackered pilsner. Some apple and old dried grass. Light body, soft carbonation. An embarrassing effort.

On draft at Tap 25. I think this one is under rated. Maybe that’s because I dig low gravity, lightly hopped beers. Anyway, this one pours a very clear yellow color with a small white head. The aroma has fresh honeydew melon, a little grapefruit and passionfruit. Mild, but pleasant. The flavor has some stronger notes of passionfruit, a little mango and grape. Clean tasting and not too bitter. Nice stuff.

Not a bad IPA. Rather usual and customary for an IPA. Decent hops in the nose and finish. A sweet body in the middle. Light on the alcohol.
