This India Pale Ale packs a larger punch than the Palmbender, but it’s well-balanced characteristics make it an easy drinking IPA. Brewed with 2-row American pale ale malts and dry hopped with whole cone cascades, this cloud rolls in with a 6.9% ABV and intense citrusy hop aroma that will satisfy the hophead in us all. The addition of local honey at the end of the brewing process lends a subtle sweetness for a clean finish.

Pours a darker golden color with white head. Citrus, dank citrus, a little pine, and some grass on the nose; follows onto the palate. Pretty solid.

Pours a clear orange golden color with a quickly dissipating all white head. The aroma is characterized by hey honey sweetness and a subdued orange citrus. Soft mouth feel with progressive astringency. A honey sweetness comes through first and foremost. Notable citrus flavor also gets carried through. There is a bitterness I have to finish that is a little misplaced.

Deep gold pour. Small off white head. Plenty of lacing. Hoppy aroma with w vegetal note. Taste is the same with an annoying vegetal presence that does not stop.

Draft at the Syb Pig in Boca Raton, Fl. Poured into a tupil. Nice copper with slight haze and one finger white head that lasted. Some solid lacing as well. Aroma is citrus and some mild pine and pine resin. Clean smelling brew. The taste is citrus with orange mainly, slightly sweet malt characteristics, hint of pine and pine resin. Again, clean tasting and balanced. Soft finish, not much bitterness. Good IPA.

Draft at Big Storm. Pours a clear copper, amber color with a foamy off-white head. Fair bit of sudsy webbed lacing along the side of the glass. Aroma has noticeable honey sweetness to pair with the hops. Flavor has a good hop presence, but the honey really cuts the bitterness in the finish compared to most American IPAs. Tasty, interesting take on an IPA. Hopheads expecting a hop bomb may be disappointed, but this is a very nice, well-balanced beer.

On tap, ABC Liquors, Betton Hills, Tallahassee - growler. Big Fuggles/Golding-type aroma with lots of malt. Very fresh hops in the aroma. Hazy, auburn/tea-colored brew, thin filmy eggshell head. Clean, tannic, English-style IPA - robust hopping but not too acidic, vegetal or bitter. Big Storm seems to have played their hard Florida water well by making a southern England IPA. Medium body, hops take on a bit more of a western caste towards the end with a bit of grapefruit pith astringency. Right in my wheelhouse.

Unfortunately this is one of the better beers from Big Storm. This pours a hazy gold with a white bubbly head that dies quickly. The taste is somewhat bitter with hardly any lingering citrus bite. This is a light bodied IPA that just doesn’t work. What is the point of this beer when there are so many other IPAs that have such a better flavor, and more bitterness while still being just as drinkable? I get it Big Storm, you are going for the local crowd and jumped on the craft brewery scene in Tampa when it started to explode in Tampa. Your beers are just not good though. I doubt anyone will really remember this beer when thinking of good, quality crafted IPAs.
