From 64oz growler. Gold pour, thin white cap that fades completely. Nose is grainy. Taste is sweet at first, gets grainy, very light hop finish. Lightish body with lots of carbonation. Decent pale lager, nothing fancy, goes down easy.

355 ml can from a fifteen-pack on sale at Liquor Depot, served in a footed lager glass. It’s officially Spring today, a time when a beer drinker’s fancy turns from rich porters and dark ales to crisp pilsners and pale lagers. Pours a golden straw color, with steady carbonation streams and a snowy white head that fairly races to extinction. Sweet cereal grains and a speck of noisome vegetal on the nose, and basically the same on the tongue; a touch of bitterness and slickness to a generally clean finish. Overall, Big Surf is basic lager, akin to Labatt’s marquee beers like Blue and Genuine (reviewed earlier), although with a couple of rough edges - still, for a "buck-a-beer" brand, it’s above par.

Can. Pours a very light gold with light fluffy head. Aromas of doughy malts, honey, and a little butter. Flavors of doughy malts and light fruit. Lots of carbonation. Nothing to write home about but one of the better local lagers.

Can in alberta. Pale straw pour, with a small white head. Pale malt, slightly sweet, and corny aroma with some very light grasses. Solid palette, and good carb. Refreshing finish, the malts are a little sweet, and some more hopping would be good, but overall its a decent pale lager, and good for what its trying to be.

Nothing wrong here with this lager. Kind of impressed me with the can and taste. No metallic tastes to speak of, but a rather a light grassy, citrus, cereal taste. Had no nasty lager aftertaste, but it was nice and refreshing, as it should be. It is perfect for any occasion as it says.

Move over so-so Canadian lagers, you have a new challenger! I would definitely choose this over other lagers. It doesn’t feel nearly as corny, metallic or dirty. Hard to describe, like it won’t give you that "I am drinking this SHIT just to hang out with my buddies I haven’t seen for years so I’ll choke it down not to look like a pussy/whiner" feeling. You can crank a tonne of this pale, mildly tropical fruit, light roasted malt wonder into you and still hang with the crowd.

Pale blond color with creamy head. Simple aroma, some paper, a bit stale. Smooth mouthfeel, light flavor combination, and low bitterness; some paper, light acidity. Light fruity esters.
Mild beer for non beer lovers. Not offensive.

Big Surf won't knock you off your beach chair. However, this truly is the everyday drinking lager. If you drink bud, Kokanee, Pabst, etc, than you should switch to Big Surf. My go to beer if I'm going out with the guys. Easy to drink, awesome packaging.. Good choice!

Pours a pale straw colour with small white spotty head. Aroma is crisp, grainy, kinda sweet malt. Taste is grain, some sweetness, and lightly bitter near the end. A beer style for the masses.

Can. 5%. Not my favourite, and would require a lime or some other fruitiness to be drinkable. Nice clear light to medium yellow color, white to off-white head. Mild sweetness and a very light bitterness, and softly carbonated. Can’t believe Depot loaded up on this swill.
