My impression of this was that it tastes like they threw a few bottles of cheap whiskey into a pale ale. I like Scottish ales alot, too, and this one was just so one dimensional. No body, too pale and dry, and really just not a very good example of the style, if nothing else.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 TimE (2065) - Tokyo, JAPAN - APR 18, 2004
A good peaty, malty, earthy scottish ale with a slightly nutty finish. Slightly thin

Amber appearance with mild, inoffensive scotch malt notes in aroma and flavor. An easy drinking, lightly flavorful, medium to light-bodied brew.

draft.dark clear red color with very little head or lace. extremely fine carbonation.grapy sweet aroma, thick consistancy but doesn't have the flavor the aroma hints of. the finish was of a smoky grape texture. i had the odd image of drinking carbonated red wine.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 Suttree (3925) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - APR 27, 2003
UPDATED: JUN 5, 2003 This is odd.Almost perfect texture in mouth - chewy, heavy viscous - but lacking in flavors. Tastes almost like an English brown.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 baobubba (455) - Starkville, Mississippi, USA - APR 9, 2003
Cloudy brown with an off-white-yellow head. Sweet floral/fruity aroma. Semi-sweet favor with quite a bitter kick (for a scottish ale anyhow). Mouthfeel somewhat on the thin side, but smooth. Good brew.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 KingPinHead (390) - Des Moines, Washington, USA - JUN 27, 2002
This cola-brown ale was a little disappointing at first sight: slightly hazy with a fairly light, fuzzy head---aroma slightly sweet, slightly fruity, but the watchword here is ’slight.’ As for flavor, the keyword is ’subtle.’ Malt is detected mostly in the body, and contributes to a very nice mouthfeel. Hops, meanwhile, stand out most in the medium dry finish, which fills the back of the palate. There is nothing wrong with this ale--but it is almost annoyingly plain...Smooth and full-bodied it is, but somehow the character of this ’Scottish’ ale got lost in the transporter beam and landed somewhere else--unfortunately, far from the land of kilts and cabers.
