On tap. A solid, subtle IPA that doesn’t crack you over the head the way most IPAs in the Northwest tend to do. Very pub-friendly -- I wish it had been available on cask the day I was in.

2012-08-09, bottle from the brewpub, no ABV, 7-4-7-3-13=34
Hazy light amber color, small head. The aroma shows some caramel, malt, demerara sugar, bread, light biscuits. Some caramel and toffee flavor, with stale bread hints, a generic feeling of un-freshness, light biscuits; correct bitterness.
A bit boring overall.

2012-07-28, draught at the brewpub, listed at 6% ABV, 7-4-7-5-15=38
Hazy amber color. Good aroma and flavor, overall not so impressive like last night, more like a good IPA, but even less impressive than the Perspective IPA.

2012-07-27, draught at Brouwer’s Café, Seattle, listed at 5% ABV, 8-5-9-5-17=44
Dark amber color, with sparse head. Mild but nice aroma of hops, fruity; later it even shows some biscuity malt. Excellent malt caramel and toffee flavor; although the mouthfeel is lean, there is a light residual sweetness that makes this beer extremely drinkable, in combination with the hops that provide delicate fruity tones and resins.
One of the freshest and best IPAs in a long time.

Bomber. Appearance is a clear orange and gold color with a half-inch of off-white head. The aroma is predominately citrus rind, floral hops and malt. The flavor opens up with a good dose of mandarin orange, passion fruit and pine leading to some honey, malt and caramel. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with strong carbonation and a slightly sweet, citrus finish. Not quite as good as the draft version but still a quality WA IPA.

Draft at the brewpub in Seattle. Pours a cloudy pale golden orange color with tangerine edges and a 1.5 finger white head that very slowly fades into a thick lasting ring.  Glass is left coated with streaks of soapy lacing. Fuller bodied than expected with earthy, resinous hop aroma.  Strong grass/soil character with sticky pine needle countered by sweet malt and tropical fruit notes.  Hints of pineapple, mango, grapefruit and orange peel along with biscuit, caramel malt and graham cracker.  Hops linger throughout with a decent amount of dry bitterness that’s nicely countered by the sweeter notes.  Well balanced and easy to drink with a well masked abv.  Nice beer.

Gift from S.J. To call something "Best IPA," You need to live up to that, and this brew didn’t. With that said, it wasn’t bad. Some nice caramel malt bread and earth notes. The hop presence was mild...which is shocking due to the title.

Tap @ the brewery. Medium head with medium duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are bitter hops, flowers, pine, malt and caramel notes.

Pours amber, white head, about a finger. Smell is citrus. Taste is somewhat piney. Scarlet Fire is better IMO.

Ok, very caramelly and a little flat. Any hop flavors only come out on the finish. Possibly a lit past its prime. Bomber from the brewery.

Sample at the brewpub. Clear copper color with a medium thick and fluffy white head that evaporates slowly. Sticky rings of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of citrus fruits and sweet caramel. Medium body with a citrusy hops character and notes of caramel malt and toffee. The finish is hoppy with a grapefruit aftertaste. Above average overall.

A smooth and decently pine and grapefruit bitter hop ipa. Bottle from a recent trade. Clear golden color. Sticky sweet and resiny sort of mouthfeel. Aroma is a little bubblegum. Flavor comes in with a mostly caramel malt and nice body. Finish is citrus, a lot of pine and long lasting pine cone lingering taste.
