COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A multiple medal winner at the Great American Beer Festival, Coal Creek Porter has a solid and loyal following among Big Time's customers. Impenetrably dark at first glance, Coal Creek shows rich red highlights when held to the light. Its blend of dark roasted malts combines with three other specialty malts and unmalted flaked barley to give Coal Creek a satisfying roasted flavor and smooth texture. It is heavily hopped in the finish with Yakima Centennial. Original gravity is approximately 15 degrees Plato (1.060 Specific Gravity), and alcohol content is 4.5% by weight.

Ruby black with off-white head & lacing. The aroma is full of port & mocha, some chocolate. The flavor is creamy with roast & finishes a bit dry & astringent with lots of black malts.

Tap@Big Time. Its not a bad porter, simple, but tasty enough. Sweetish raisin toast flavour, some roasty/choclatey flavours late. You’ll probably be coming to Big Time for their IPA’s though.

Dark brown color, you can almost see through it if you hold it up to a bright light. Frothy brown head. Chocolate malt aroma and a doughy sourness. The flavor is dominated by the sourness. Bitter finish.

This has some potential, however: Weak on aroma, flavor, mouthfeel, aroma....pretty uninteresting. The basics are there, they just need more amplification.

Somewhat sweet and has hints of roastiness. Though I found this a little thin. It was my least fav at the pub.

Had on tap at the brewpub in Seattle. Very good brewpub Porter. Black as night appearance; mocha colored head with decent lacing. Has some good bittersweet chocolate notes. No "dirt" aftertaste - good strong finish.

Dark brown, tan headCoffee and grainy flavors dominate at the first, and crisp, dry hoppy finish.

A dark, opaque beer...blah blah. A very boring porter as far as the roastedness went. Just coffee and roasted barley, but not in an original or good way. The finish was a lot hoppier than I expected, which helped salvage the beer.

Very dark porter with whispy head and a roasty nose. The flavor was not as roasty as the nose, with faint coffee tastes in the finish. It had an almost cinnamon toast sweetness to it with a nice lingering hop bitterness in the finish.
