COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A multiple medal winner at the Great American Beer Festival, Coal Creek Porter has a solid and loyal following among Big Time's customers. Impenetrably dark at first glance, Coal Creek shows rich red highlights when held to the light. Its blend of dark roasted malts combines with three other specialty malts and unmalted flaked barley to give Coal Creek a satisfying roasted flavor and smooth texture. It is heavily hopped in the finish with Yakima Centennial. Original gravity is approximately 15 degrees Plato (1.060 Specific Gravity), and alcohol content is 4.5% by weight.

Had on tap at the brewpub in Seattle. Very good brewpub Porter. Black as night appearance; mocha colored head with decent lacing. Has some good bittersweet chocolate notes. No "dirt" aftertaste - good strong finish.

draft. dark large carbonation head, with thick foamy lace, semi-opaque coke brown/black, aroma with hints of carmel and roasted nuts. flavor was creamy smooth with a unusal smooky hops finish

Dark brown, tan headCoffee and grainy flavors dominate at the first, and crisp, dry hoppy finish.

A dark, opaque beer...blah blah. A very boring porter as far as the roastedness went. Just coffee and roasted barley, but not in an original or good way. The finish was a lot hoppier than I expected, which helped salvage the beer.

Very dark porter with whispy head and a roasty nose. The flavor was not as roasty as the nose, with faint coffee tastes in the finish. It had an almost cinnamon toast sweetness to it with a nice lingering hop bitterness in the finish.

Alluring sweet, candy-sugar smell in this coal-colored offering. Pleasantly malty flavoring with a just enought dry bitterness on the finish. A fairly impressive porter.

The first cask-conditioned porter I’ve had. Of course the body is flat and carbonationless, but that just allowed the strong licorice, prune and chocolate flavors to assert themselves. Quite good.
