3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 TheRealMGD (541) - Lakewood, Washington, USA - JAN 23, 2011Tap @ Latona. Cloudy dark brown with a tan head which leaves a heavy lace. Malty, almost maple nose. Coffee, chocolate and a hint of tart cherry in the medium-heavy malt body with moderate carbonation. Hops are grapefruit, but not really in the IPA realm. Dry, bitter and slightly oily finish. Interesting, but not my cuppa.

Dark brown with a light creamy head. Earthy, woody aroma with light chocolate accents. A little husky and very woody/hoppy as well. Good example but not one that stands out.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Beershine (5174) - The Sunshine State, Florida, USA - JAN 12, 2012
Draft @ brewpub. Black, beige head. Chocolate malts, toasty in the nose and nearly burnt on the mouth when blended with the toasty hops. Good balance and blend of flavors. Nice one.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Smurf2055 (610) - Seattle, Washington, USA - NOV 28, 2011
On tap at Bigtime Brewery in U district.
Aroma was more sweet than hoppy. Maybe a bit of pine, but overall a pretty weak aroma.
Appearance was very pretty. A couple centimeters of tan head. Pretty close to a stout actually. The head dissipates pretty quickly.
Taste is where the hops come out. This is really balanced, smooth, and pleasant. The strongest taste I get from it is the pine, but it really meshes well together with the other flavors.
Palate is ok. Smooth and refreshing.
Overall I will take this over regular IPA’s any time. Nothing that you can’t fine elsewhere, but I’ll take this local brew while it lasts. It’s not a standard IPA, so if you are looking for a hop bomb, or even something with an above average hop presence, you won’t find it here. You will find a pretty good ale with a pretty unique flavor though.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 5000 (5000) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - MAY 1, 2011
Draught @ Bottleworks:   Deep cola, large pillowy tannish head, nice lacing.   Soft hop, a little dank with some cow pasture, tiz minor though.   Nice bed of roastiness on the tongue not too heavy, compliments the otherwise semi-sweet hoppiness.   This is rather well balanced.   A touch of semi sweet citrus rind on the backside.   Better than expected.   Lingering dryness, citrus rind, and hops.   Roasty malt background has somewhat diminished by this time.   Yeah, I enjoyed this more than I thought I would.   The slight cow pasture right up front thankfully didn’t make an appearance on the tongue.   Good stuff!

From the Jug at the GABF, Colorado Convention Center Denver 18/09/2010
Hoppy aroma. Dark coloured strong in alcohol and hoppy with a hint of dryness in a bitter coffee roast finish.

(Draught) Pours a black body with a medium cream head. Aroma of coffee, grass, citrus, and vanilla. Flavor of roasted malt, coffee, pine, citrus, chocolate, and earthiness.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 bvc (1109) - Kenmore, Washington, USA - AUG 27, 2010
Draft at naked city. Pours a very dark brownish black with thin light tan head. Nose is pretty faint all around, but do pick up roasty nuts, coffee, cocoa soaked dank, and bits of pine. Even roasty malt hits first, mostly coffee flavors then moves into some sweet lacto chocolate notes for just a moment and then finishes piney and bitter. Not overly complex, but enjoyable.

Nice dark malt and hops addition. This was a very solid Dark IPA.

Another nice brew. A dark IPA. Pours a dark brown color with a medium beige head. A rich nose of roasted malts, coffee and light hops. The flavor is similar; a rich porter with metallic hops, coffee and roasted malts. Very nice.
