Big Time IPA Festival – Seattle Beer Week 2010
Amber in color, clear and thin head. Lots of fruit like flavors with the hops. Nice malt addition and the spices and additional hops made this a very tasty brew. Loved the orange flavors.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 douglas88 (3672) - Salt Lake City, Utah, USA - MAY 24, 2010
On tap at the brewery. Pours a medium copper color with a large white head. A huge pine and earthy nose. The flavor is nice; smooth pine, citrus, light bitterness, rich hops. Very smooth and drinkable.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 riversideAK (4553) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - MAY 22, 2010
Citrusy floral hops on the nose, some dank. Hazy bright orange, decent lace. Chewy dank and citrus hops, pine, probably the hoppiest of their ipas I’ve had. Solid malt base is minimal and uninvasive.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 glkaiser (1214) - Seattle, Washington, USA - AUG 23, 2007
Draft at the brewpub. Light copper w/ medium head. Good spicy and citrus hop aroma. Hops aren’t strong in the nose or up front, but come on strong in the end. Just another solid IPA from Big Time. God bless them.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 after4ever (4500) - Brier, Washington, USA - JUL 15, 2007
Draft at the brewpub. Strong piney nose, once it warms up (everything there tonight was pretty chilly--they must have the reefers cranked due to the summer heat). Medium straw colored pour with thin white head. Medium body & carb. Forward pine flavors with a long pine coney finish. Delicious. This is a very single-minded IPA and it’s soooo yummy as a result. I love this stuff. Well, as of tonight and having tried it for the first time, I do.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 OldMrCrow (1420) - Seattle, Washington, USA - FEB 11, 2006
On tap at the Big Time.
A fair enough IPA, certainly above average even for the Pacific Northwest -- but head to head against Scarlet Fire, Bhagwan’s Best, and Lift Ticket (yeah, seeing four pints with four different IPAs lined up there on the table was a beautiful thing) this one comes fourth. The Scarlet Fire offers a bigger, more floral hop aroma and flavor; the Bhagwan’s is better rounded in its malts -- and none of the others have the same slightly chalky, slighty astringent finish that this one suffers from.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Oakes (10184) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 13, 2005
Copper colour. Aroma of kumquat, mango and brown sugar. Slightly resiny palate, with orangey bitterness and lingering brown sugar sweetness.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BeerPrince (1701) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 13, 2005
A nice IPA, but not as good as Bhagwans. Nice light amber colour with a big white head. Aroma is quite hoppy and earthy. Flavour is quite bitter and not as balanced as Bhagwans although it does have the similar hint of citrus.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 BückDich (5468) - McCall, Idaho, USA - JUL 6, 2004
Amber bronze with some white thick head, good lacing. The aroma is floral with new breed high AA hops & some alcohol. The flavor has a bit too much bitterness but a dry full bodied finish. Another IPA, good.
