3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 5000 (4104) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - DEC 17, 2009
Draught @ Brouwer’s Café:   Deep amber, slight haze, moderate to large frothy off-white head, a few rings of lacing.   Rich malty nose, very rindish.   Sweet heavy malts on the tongue, does have a strong rind aspect.   Very rich, comes across as a heavy amber with a big hop punch.   Fairly full bodied, certainly a rich amber or red ale.   Has a hoppy backside, remains rich.   Lingering sweet hoppiness.   I would summarize this as a heavy amber, rich and sweet, with assertive citrus rind notes and lingering hop bitterness.   Started out okay, finished on the better side.   Growing on me as it warms up.   Good stuff Maynard.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 riversideAK (4553) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - DEC 21, 2008
Nice brownish pour with a great creamy lasting head. The aroma is nice and hoppy with notes of citrus and earth. Malts are sweet and lend a fruity aspect to this one. Flavors of earthy juicy hops, medium sweet dark caramel malts. The hop malt combination creates an incredibly fruity experience. This one drinks itself if that makes sense. Really nice.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 luttonm (960) - Belgrade, SERBIA - DEC 12, 2008
Draft at Big Time anniversary night at Brouwers. Very meaty-marinade nose that translates to big sweet/spice malts. nice balanced hops.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 trevor211 (980) - Seattle, Washington, USA - DEC 12, 2008
Medium brown with a thin head. Aroma is fruity and malty, but deep and not overly sweet. There’s a definite hop presence as well. The flavor is roasty sweet, definitely malt-heavy with a nice hop finish. I thoroughly enjoyed this one - as I do nearly all of Big Times brews, but it wasn’t something to write home about.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 OldMrCrow (1420) - Seattle, Washington, USA - FEB 4, 2006
On cask at the brewery.
Pours a dark brown amber with a very small head as is to be expected on cask.
The aroma is a huge fruity nose, fresh grapes and citrus and peaches, hop resins and a hint of sweet molassas. The flavor is astoundingly rich and fruity, huge citrus hops and stone fruit tones. balanced well with hops but without the blast of bitterness that one might expect from such a big citrus nose. The mouthfeel is creamy and thick, almost like a whipped fruit smoothy, yet not cloying in the least and never too sweet on the tongue.
I’m deeply impressed by this one; everything about is big and I’m suprised that it comes in at only 7% ABV. I would jump at a chance to repeat the experience.
