Yet another of Big Time’s signature big, bold and assertive IPAs. Simcoe and Amarillo hops dominate this one. O.G. 16.8

On tap at Brouwer’s. There’s a daunting feeling that goes along with rating #501... like I have a lot of work to do. Pours a cloudy honey amber with a smallish head. These are some really nice, mellow hop varieties - lots of bittersweet citrus rind in here, balanced nicely with the caramel malts. Big time makes some really good "old standard" IPAs, and this one ranks right up there. Meerkat is still my favorite, but this is very tasty and refreshing.

Draft @ brewpub. Nice hazy unfiltered look. Warm orange gold. Scattered lace . Aroma has a rustic character with lots of nutty fresh malts that are earthy and blend well with the earthy hops, which are never overpowering. Orange peel. Almost has a continental hop feel...Crisp bracing bitter finish but overall a balanced beer. not sticky at all. Good IPA

On tap at Brouwer’s for Hopfest, pours a golden copper with a small white head. Aroma of citrus hops, piney hops and resin. Flavour of citrus hops, pine, pot, dry zesty fruits and orange peel. Dry, lightly bitter and fruity. Great.

growler from bvc for the 2011 summer growler swap. thanks man... a hazy lighter shade of apple cider pour that yields a moderate creamy soapy white head that quickly dissipates leaving a thin milky white film across the top... aroma is citrusy orange tinged hop notes upfront with a mild grassiness to back things up. a touch of raw cattiness also emits. nothing earth shattering, just resembling a solid ipa and true to style... flavors add a dimension of tea and earth to go alongside the citrus and grass hop focus. semi-sweet through the middle as well as prolonging towards the finish where a light to medium level of bitterness surfaces. medium bodied, perhaps just a touch bit more. stands up on its own as an above average and serviceable ipa. worth trying to say the least.

On tap at the brewery. Aroma: Orange and mango. Flavor: Grassy, dried orange peel. Finishes with an intense and long lasting bitterness and grassy, resinous hop. Comment: Smooth, good medium to full bodied mouth feel. Bigger than Bhagwan’s IPA.

Draught @ Brouwer’s Café:   Dirty amber, thick and heavy, moderate white head, foamy, spotty lacing.   Raw musty hop nose.   Very slight pine.   On the tongue it really comes across as a really musty funky dank IPA.   This must be what its like to wring the juice straight from the hop.   This is like uncut cocaine.  This seems to be as true as true gets.   Simple, hoppy, and what it means to be an IPA.   Full bodied hop juice.   I think of all the beers that call themselves an IPA and how this one would crush them.   Could be a little bit more refined, but when you get punched in the face does it matter what happens afterwards?

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy yellow with a small white head. A interesting nose of floral and funky hop notes- very much like a skunky bag of marijuana. Light bitter flavor, herbal and fruity. Very nice.
