COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Gold Medal winner in the specialty beer category at the 1996 GABF is a popular brew among the rotating taps at Big Time. The addition of organic flaked rye to the grist results in a complex malt character that is smooth and satisfying. Three seperate Noble hop additions help balance out the flavor. OG 13.8 Plato

[3/2/15] Draught at Big Time Brewery in Seattle. Clear coper. Aroma of honey, graininess, butter and a bit of hops. Sweetish flavor with honey, graininess, a bit of butter, spicy rye and a bitter hops finish. Medium-bodied.

On tap at Big Time, pours a clear golden orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out spicy hops, rye, some orange fruitiness, and biscuity malt. Flavour is clean and balanced, with notes of oranges and other citrus and tropical fruitiness, along with lightly spicy hops. Well-balanced and easy to drink. Very good stuff.

Pours hazy amber with a finger off white head. Smell sweet grainy cereal, straw. Taste mellow chalky texture on the end, a bit of grassy hops. Lighter bodied. Reasonable drinkability.

Dogbrick (9109) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - APR 4, 2012
Sample at the brewpub. This beer pours a clear dark amber color with a medium bone white head that recedes steadily. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasty malt and mildly spiced hops. Medium body with a moderately bitter hops character and notes of rye and toasted malt in the background. The finish is hoppy with a lingering bitterness left behind. Decent brew overall.

Decent tap beer. The rye is not showing a typical spicy character, nor do we get much IPA/hoppy profile. A quaffer.

(Draft) Sampled at the 2011 Great Canadian Beer Festival on September 9, 2011. Nice head and mahogany body. Good bitterness and the rye is very apparent in this beer. Nice, I should have stuck with this for the remaining few hours. Good fun!

Clear dark amber color/ lasting ivory sheen. Nice floral, spicy sweet rye, pale malt aromas. Smooth medium body. Rich malty sweet honey biscuit, toasted rye bread flavors with some floral hoppage--fruity finish--good.

On tap at Big Time. Poured clear pale amber with a white head. Was not able to make anything out of the aroma except maybe some bread. Light bitterness, medium sweetness, thin body, and no finish.

Flavor is nutty earhty bread with rye malt, biscuit, burnt toast, light nutty chocolate with caramel malts and light herbal hops. Medium finish with light bitternes. Ok.
