2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 Smurf2055 (610) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAR 27, 2012
Pours a deep amber, almost brown, with almost no head. Smell is pretty simple, a bit more malt, but otherwise a typical amber. Taste is quite malty and the slightest bitterness, light citrus, cherry, and a bit of booze. Easy drinking, decent.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a dark red color with a medium beige head. A sweet malty nose, caramel, banana. A very sweet flavor, rich fruits, banana, sweet caramel. Fruity. Not bad.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Beershine (5173) - The Sunshine State, Florida, USA - APR 3, 2010
draft @ brewpub. Dark red-copper with scant head. Sweet-n-spicy candy like hot candy/cinnamon. Silky palate. Flavors are not bad at all but sooo spicy-sweet and not enough hops. Too much candi sugar. It dries at the end but still not that nice.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 after4ever (5290) - Brier, Washington, USA - MAY 4, 2009
Draft at the brewery. Pours a gorgeous deep ruby red that’s pretty much opaque dark brown until you hold it up to the light. This is a big fat amber without a doubt. Nice thick tan head as well. Mild doughy malts on the nose. Big, creamy body with carb somewhat on the reserved side. Doughy malts with some candy bar notes showing--toffee and caramel. Very mildly hopped. Could drink a lot of this but it’s really awfully polite for how huge the malt bill is.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 riversideAK (5413) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - OCT 30, 2008
Copper colored brew with a thin spotty head and sticky lacing. Malty nose of toffee, caramel, some fruity bitterness. Flavors of toffee, caramel, vanilla, some dark fruit. Hops are fruity and not too bitter, just enough to balance out all the malt. Creamy, and rather heavy mouth feel.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 presario (4406) - Stampede City, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 25, 2008
On tap at Big Time. Frothy head on dark red amber. Almost no head without a strong swirl whereupon you get some nice hop scent. Thick mouth coating. Viscous beer. Hoppy but not super hoppy. Sweet malt and vanilla. Like a high gravity vanilla accented amber.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 BillKismet (3000) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAR 16, 2008
Full amber color. The head thins quickly like a prematurely balding man to a brief matting. Easy crystal malt aroma with some well placed hop notes together producing a moderate fruitiness and candy-sugar complexity. Flavor reflects the aroma with good balance and moderate fruitiness. Alcohol accentuates the flavor, but lacks the brazen appearance of fusels. A touch of bubblegum in the finish. Impossible to believe this comes in at a hefty 8.5%.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 5000 (4974) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - MAY 5, 2007
Draught at Brouwer’s Cafe: Dark amber, quite dark actually, large foamy cream hued head, moderate carbonation, sticky lacing.
Sweet malty nose, slight fruity/floral notes.   Minor alcohol is noticeable.   Has that slight musty earthy fromage sorta funk too.
Big malty tongue, soft alcohol, minor hop bite.   Noticing a somewhat heavy floral aspect, but it is shadowed by the bigger malts.
Fairly sweet.   Moderate to large body and mouthfeel.   Picks up a slight citrusy aspect as it finishes.   Fairly good
stuff, one of the more memorable ones.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 FlacoAlto (3450) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - MAY 2, 2007
Sampled @ Big Time, April 2007
This beer has a sweet malty taste and a punchy hop flavor to it that I was not necessarily expecting. The aroma is a bit hard to pull out, but smells vaguely of toasty malt and caramel. The beer is a dark amber color that has a touch of haze to it and is topped by a wispy amber-tan colored head. This beer is really quite sweet; it is not quite sticky or syrupy, but still noticeably sweet. This sweetness really accentuates a fruit character that reminds me of berries, raisins and red grapes. This beer is actually fairly hoppy (for some reason I was expecting a bit more malt focus); the hops contribute some herbal notes and more berry notes as well. The finish has a lingering bitterness to it as well as a touch of warming character from the alcohol.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Oakes (10941) - Savusavu, FIJI ISLANDS - MAR 21, 2007
Cloudy dark amber. The aroma is toasty but also soapy as well - I think in addition to a standard hop woodiness it’s also giving off a floral character that matches the organic dish soap I buy back home). Fairly dull balance. Light toasty smoke, darjeeling, wood. Finishes with a good balance of caramel malt, and a woody hop that is a bit more complex on the palate than the nose. Nice.
