Minnesota Winterfest 2011. Dark hazy gold color with a medium head. Monster citrus hop aroma, like just slicing open an orange. Juicy hop flavor and bitterness, lots of it. Overwhelmingly citrus (orange, light tangerine, maybe some grapefruit). Noticeable alcohol. Maybe it’s just because this is exactly the kind of IPA I love, but this was out-friggin-standing. I think this was my runner-up of the night.

Loved this sessionable IPA. Not too overpowering, great hop taste. Warmed me up on a cold Minnesota night at the winter beer dabbler.

Sampled this at ABR this fall. Going off of memory, this was a nice and hoppy IPA. Refreshingly crisp, but not over bitter. Nice.

Pours hazy orange, white head. Aroma has big notes of orange, tangerine, grapefruit, some slight caramel and toffee, finishing bitter with pine and orange peel. Excellent bitter, well rounded IPA, with big hop character and a huge bitter finish but is still balanced. Excellent.

Skyview (4880) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - FEB 9, 2011
Sampled on draught at the Winterfest 2011 in St Paul, MN. Pours a semi-hazy orange amber colored brew with a creamy off-white head that has some nice retention and excellent lacing. Aroma of typical Three C’s hops, a hint of tangerine that hides the caramel malt. Taste is solid West Coast caliber IPA, yet getting close to an Imperial IPA profile. Finish is semi-sweet with some light tangerine aftertaste that lingers after the finish.

The first beer I sampled at Winterfest 2011 in St. Paul on 2-4-11. Approximately 2 oz. pour. Listed on the sign as “I.P.A” (periods after the first two letters, none after the third). Pours a cloudy, pale amber with a large amount of eggshell head. Yeasty taste. Pine and citrus in the aroma and flavor. Soft body. Simple but tasty brew.
