Beers in cans are convenient for summer picnics. Unfortunately this isnít the best such beer. Big hoppy front with obvious West Coast hopping. But then I realized that some off flavors come out that challenge the drinker, rather more grassy and English. Malt balance perhaps? Still, it isnít to my liking, though I was impressed by the freshness of the hops. Can.

Pour out of 16 oz can, hazy orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of slight orange, yeast, touch of grain into a bit of earth, slight booze, touch of veggie. Taste is a mix of grass, grain, biscuit, touch of orange into a bit of yeast, slight grainy notes into some booze, dms, finishing slightly bitter. Not good.

Can. Explodes with a sediment filled copper color. Off white head and some decent lacing follow. Ií ll agree with the last reviewer and say that nothing here is right. Sour, earthy, caramel. Well past its prime? Or just plain nasty? IDK

1/28/15. 16oz can from Happyís in Cedar Falls. Hazy orange pour with a big khaki head, good lacing. Looks fine... that seems to be where the positives end. Sour milk aroma, citrus, earthy, floral, caramel. Weird flavor of mixed up grossness... sour milk, green apple, caramel, floral, seltzer water, blech. After these 4 cans I will try to remember to pass on this brewery here on out.

On tap at Yardhouse SLP. Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a combination of light fruits, sweet grains and grass with a hint of resin underlying. Flavor has a bit of biscuit and bread upfront with light fruit and grass underlying.

Hazed gold pour with creamy white head and lace. Aroma is large malt with a nice citrus hop presence. Sweet malt with a good citrus/resiny hop bitter. pretty nice beer

Cloudy orange, ring of foam. Smells like caramel, grass, and a hint of grape. Aroma is kind of winey, caramel, and grassy hops. I got a little apple and pear, as well.

16 oz can poured a clear golden amber with a small lingering ivory head. Aromas of straw, earthiness, pine and light citrus. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of bread, earthiness and light citrus with a crisp dry bitter lingering earthy finish.

16 oz. can, consumed on 5-17-14. The can overflowed a bit upon opening for whatever reason, but I wonít hold that against the beer. Fresh, yeasty, juicy aroma features scents of melon, orange, rhubarb, tart grape, honey, chamomille, and minerals. The smell reminds me of honey-covered challah or apples and honey. Strong aroma but nonetheless not a great one. Pours a hazy brass with a large amount of long-lasting, thick, uneven, beige head. Nice liquid but even better head. Juicy and pretty sweet taste is similar to aroma. Flavors of honey, floral hops, honey nut cream cheese, and a touch of black pepper. Light dryness and a touch of black pepper spiciness in the finish. Lightly dry, bitter, and spicy aftertaste. Light body. A bit of liveliness, but generally a forgettable and subpar palate. Big Wood Jack Pine Savage is not a bad beer, and the aroma and flavor are strong, but itís not really my cup of tea.
