Rated 4/21/03 I was a bit disappointed in this, thought I was gonna get hit by a 2x4, and was tapped with a twig. To thin, not hearty enough, very middle of the road and easily forgettable.

A serviceable if uninspired stout. Pours dark with little head. Aroma is light roasted malt. Slightly bitter finish makes it a bit more interesting.

Cask at GBBF 2010. An opaque brown beer with a thin brown head. The aroma has light notes of vegetables and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and citrusy hops as well as lighter notes of roasted malt. Not much of a stout, but a decent brown ale.

Cask at GBBF 2010, 5th Aug 2010. Flat murky brown. Tired taste with just some very average malt flavours. Looks like I got the bottom of the barrel, given the other rates for this from that day.

5th August 2010. GBBF.
Cloudy dark brown beer. Light dry palate. Sweetish malt. Nice touch of chocolate.Good underpinning dark fruit - tangy plum and some generic fruits. Finishes fairly dry with a pinch of spice. Some grassy spice in the aftertaste. Nicely joined up.

From cask. Pours dark brown to black with a fully gone head. Aroma is dark malty and roasted. Sweet malty, dark breadish and hardroasted malt flavoured. Bitter and dry into the finish. Rather dry and mild acidic.

I think this beer is clear, but it’s too dark to tell. Strong roast malt aroma. Heavy body with a sour finish that spoils an otherwise nice stout.
