COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
For over 125 years, Binding has been brewing this traditional beer strictly in accordance with the German Beer Purity Decree of 1516. Delicately hopped with a vigorous, neither sweet nor bitter, taste - a Masterpiece.

In the 0.5L bottle in Mannheim. My first experience with Binding was the Export. Light pale yellow, very effervescent in the footed glass that it was served in. Big poofy head that lasted a shorter amount of time than nearly everything consumed in Mannhein and Frankfurt. Crisp and refreshing, but nowhere near the substance of many of the helles served in this town. Eichbaum was a better choice. Mannheim wins the battle of the local beers in my book. Sorry Frankfurt!

Proof that not all beer from Deutschland is gut. Neither sweet nor bitter, they say in the commercial description. I say, neither here nor there, neither this nor that. Bland as all get out.

6/19/03, bottle. Clear golden pilsner, small rapidly diminishing white head. Full malty aroma with floral hops. Tart bite initially, giving way to smooth maltiness but a little skunky flavor as well. Mild clover finish. Light body, fizzy carbonation in the mouth.

A bit better than their "lager" version but still far way of being anything enjoyable. Sweet taste which diminishes fairly quick. Everything else than a "Masterpiece"

Golden coloured. Sweet and one-dimensional. Boring industrial standard lager. Binding appears to be the Anheuser-Busch of Germany.

A good regional lager. The cheap price is a bit of a giveaway to its quality though.

Relatively dry rendition of the style. Still has some good malty flavours, and isn’t a bad beer by any means, but it isn’t for those who love a full-on dortmunder.
