For over 125 years, Binding has been brewing this traditional beer strictly in accordance with the German Beer Purity Decree of 1516. Delicately hopped with a vigorous, neither sweet nor bitter, taste - a Masterpiece.

Hmm. Poured with a fine, thick, foamy, off white head that lasts a while and lots of lace. Color is a clear yellow (& a shade darker than their pils). Aroma is fresh beer, malt , grain, bread dough, and hop. Flavor is a tad more sweet than the pils also. Also a hint of solvent at the very end. Body is a tad heavier too and with good carbonatiion. Finish is like flavor and generally a session beer.

A good regional lager. The cheap price is a bit of a giveaway to its quality though.

Bottle, 5.3%. Clear shiny golden colour. Small stable white head. Good clean flavour, quite crisp. Faint maltiness and medium bitterness, both quite pleasant.

(Bottle 50 cl) Fully golden - almost amber actually - with a small head. Extremely smooth mouthfeel and a round, full body. Marked - almost nutty - maltyness and some sweetness. Subdued bitterness. A very good example of it’s style. 301002

Bottled. A golden beer with a white head. The aroma has notes of bread, malt, and some caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of straw, malt, and caramel, leading to a bitter finish.

From a 500 ml. euro bottle with no freshness date, sampled at a cooler cellar temperature in lager glass. Poured a clear orangey golden with a nice sized frothy, foamy white head, good retention, small amount of sticking. Aromas of honey and dusty grainy biscuits, floral and light whiffs of sterile alcohol. Good moderate carbonation and a crisp, dry, smooth medium bodied mouthfeel. Tastes of honey lemon and dry biscuity malts, a light sugary maltiness as well, a soft spiciness with a subtle herbal flavor, the alcohol has a grainy nature, and a dry, clean finish. This was better than I expecting, quite quaffable.

Clear golden with a tiny white head. Sweet malty aroma with caramel and mild hops. Flavour like wise. Finished dry.

Relatively dry rendition of the style. Still has some good malty flavours, and isn’t a bad beer by any means, but it isn’t for those who love a full-on dortmunder.
