3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 ALLOVATE (1535) - Butler, WA, AUSTRALIA - JAN 29, 2007
Aus der flasche from an off-license up Münchener straße, Frankfurt-am-Main, Germany (July ’06).
Back at the hotel as the mercury was near boiling point. Our small room had two much needed necessities - a fridge, and air-conditioner - so we were set for another midday session before heading out. This one, chilled, did quite nicely. It pours a bright, cheerfully glowing gold with whispy, intermittent and fine carbonation. Head, reluctant to rise off the pour finally established itself a thin, dense white pad that left little evidence upon the glass. Aroma is malty and quite sweet, bready, toasted and quite gritty confusing it for style (I had previously tasted the Dortmunder-styled Binding Export - the aroma for this more suited that style!). Comes together in the mouth though, holds well. Malt is dry here and slightly ’haystack’ grainy. Shy front end sweetness develops, back is herbal, cleanly sour malt and hops shine in well before a peppery, mildly bitter end that shows some stuffy, earthy hops and more dry malt. It is crisp, clean and avoids that soapy edge most dry pilsners ail from. Nothing but malt and hops good!! The body is featherweight, the carbonation nothing more than an addition to keep it lively. It went down without an ill-thought in my mind, the next went down without any though at all. Not bad, one that’s just good, honest sessionable!!! (50cL, BB 25/01/07)

I enjoy this beer quite a bit. It’s a nice crisp clear and refreshing lager. Not the greatest of pilsners but quite drinkable
On tap at Mirabell in Chicago
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 TerryR (383) - Oswego, Illinois, USA - AUG 2, 2006
Bottled as BBK Pils. Best before 02-04.
Slightly cloudy light golden color with thin white head. Grainy aroma with just a hint of hops. Smooth malty body becomes moderately sweet. Not a bad beer but I prefer a bit more hoppy pils.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 JoshuaB (471) - Detroit, Michigan, USA - JUL 29, 2006
Tap. Why the low ratings? Poured a yellow orange, somewhat cloudy with thick and creamy white head. Smells of a good amount of malt and honey. Sweet, malty and grassy.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 jpm30 (1587) - East Central, Georgia, USA - JUL 11, 2006
Also known as BBK Pils, from a 500 ml. euro brown bottle with a freshness date on the bottom center of back label.
Made a decent appearance, poured a clear reddish hued pilsener golden with a foamy white head that settled into a thin lacing, good carbonation.
Had a nose of grain and bready malts and a spicy, grassy hoppiness.
A malty crisp and smooth medium bodied mouthfeel, above average macro pils drinkability.
Nice dryish malty taste, grain and honey breadiness, a little herbal spiciness and a dry grassy hoppiness that helps cuts the sweetness of the malts and a dry bready and grassy finish.
A decent macro pilsener, great on a hot summer day.

Rating for BBK Pilsener
Light hazed golden/amber served with a white film. Aroma is thin & buttery with pear, apple and light toast. Flavor finds cereal grain and light fruits in an almost-creamy mouth with a carbonated lift. Unoffensive but not too impressive.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 EithCubes (3054) - GERMANY - DEC 29, 2005
UPDATED: MAY 26, 2006 Bottle, in Frankfurt. Golden and frothy, a bit bitter. No real "character."
Re-rate: Bottle. Clear golden, medium soapy white head. Smells malty with a mild sweetness. Grassy with a semi-interesting herbiness, low amounts of sweetness and bitterness. Has a mild bite, touch of oil in the aftertaste, more interesting than when last drunk. A bit adjuncty, though.

Bottle: Golden coloured, thin, but lasting fluffy white head; sweetish-malty and carboardy nose; light bitter-sweet flavour; very light, almost watery and soapy finish with some traces of bitterness. Soapy&unpleasant...............
