Cask; Regular.
Coffee complements the dark malts and strangely mellows the flavours to provide a smooth drinking 5% ABV stout which smells as good as it tastes.

Cask gravity at Planet Thanet BF 2014. Black beer no head. Coffee chocolate aroma but somewhere between an instant and ground coffee. Coffee is no more than ok. Overall the chocolate is the best thing about the beer. Still mostly average

Cask at CPK. Pours jet black with a mild, tan foam head. Roasted malt aroma, some cocoa, nothing out of the ordinary. Flavor, though, is quite distinct. Very pointy. Perhaps some ink and iodine underscoring a medium roasted malt character. Decent sweetness, some ash, burnt sugar, licorice, spices. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Roasted malt finish, mild smokiness, a bit of chocolate syrup and light coffee. Very dynamic beer, highly enjoyable.

Cask conditioned at The Cask Pub & Kitchen, Pimlico, London. Black with tan head. Certainly a cold coffee flavour, quite like the last of the cup, with a burnt roasty note. A little single minded, but quite reasonable.

Cask Conditioned handpump Cask Pub & Kitchen London. A black beer with a thin whitish head. Definite coffee throughout within a good base beer. Quite roasty in the nose and rich in the mouth. Lots of bitter coffee late on. I don’t like coffee as a drink (unfortunately) but I do like it in a beer if it isn’t too dominating. This wasn’t; instead it was a great beer.
