Cask (CWAF2012)
Dark reddish brown. Rich roast in the aroma, but clearly a little bit of red chillis in there too. It’s there in the taste too, but again it’s very subtle. It’s mostly a very solid, slightly sweet stout, but there’s a lovely little heat to it that tells you the chilli’s there. No burn, though, this is subtle. There’s a little coffee with cream in the aroma later. This works.

A basic bitter stout with a faint spicy finish. I enjoy the spice and it goes well. Not much beyond the spice to speak of, mid body and dark. Decent.

Cask@Reading Beer Festival 2012. Black colour, small off-white head. Aroma is roasted malts, toffee and some mild vegetably and spicy notes. Flavour is the same along with a mild spicy burn to it. Balanced, and not ruining the beer with the spicyness.

Cask-conditioned at the Bag O’Nails, Bristol 13/04/2012. Near black with a decent, off-white head. Milk chocolate and roasted malts upfront, with the chilli only really becoming evident in the finish, with some long-lasting warmth. Enjoyable.
