Cask (Oddfellows, North Shields) - Dark brown with red tinges. Blackcurrant, roasted malt and cocoa in the aroma. Roasted malt and cocoa feature in the enjoyable taste.

Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading. Reddish-brown with a moderate yellowy-beige head. Roasted malt dominates with some chocolate and plum sourness putting in the occasional appearance. The roast is a little on the burnt side for my liking, and the mouthfeel is a bit sticky by the end. Nevertheless, it’s an OK mild.

Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Chestnut with off white head. Quite a nutty flavour to this, richer malts, reasonably fruity, some bitterness and quite smooth. Good.

Cask at Egham August festival 2012 ... Deep black ... thin tan head ... soft dry toffee nose ... musty woody toffee ... not working for me

Gravity dispense at the Windsor Locale festival - 22/07/12. Mahogony brown in colour with reddish hues when held to the light and a smallish tan head. Malt, grain, a little toffee on the nose. Tastes similar to nose with a bready feel, a little butterscotch and a sweetish bitter finish. Decent drop.

berkshirejohn (4526) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - JUN 15, 2012
Cask at the Bell, Waltham St Lawrence. An attractive deep ruby red in colour, almost black, with a thin ring of beige head; aroma of earthy malts with perhaps a touch of smoke; rather thinly bodied, but with lots of grainy, bready, nutty, malts giving a slight sweetness; and a very gentle earthy bitterness to finish. A really good mild.
