COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular.
India Pale Ales were origninally brewed to be able to be shipped to the British people in India from the breweries in the UK. To be able to last the sea journey they had to be high in alcohol and contain loads of hops. Both the alcohol and the hops acted as preservatives to ensure the beer still tasted good when it reached India. Space Hoppy IPA is a pale golden ale and the hops impart a citrus flavour to make this beer hugely refreshing and ideal for accompanying most foods. The citrus hop character cuts through fatty or spicy foods allowing it to be equally as refreshing with food from the barbeque, or even with a curry!

Cask gravity at SIBA BF South East 2011. Gold with thin white head. Ascetic hop and tea flavour. Decent bitterness on finish. Some peach and light apricot. Just not a great fan of tea. Ok. Definitely hoppy. Just not sure they are the hops I like. Definitelt bitter on finish though.

Cask at CPK, Pimlico, London on 21st May 2011. Clear amber with thinnest of foam heads and slight lacing. Sweet aroma, caramel malt present that is quite strong in-mouth. Notes of lemon, grapefruit and apple. Unsure whether this was a design or ’turning’ note. Finish quite citric and rounded.

Cask conditioned at far From the Madding Crowd, Oxford. Gold with slight white head. Lots of toffee, malty, caramel notes with a boiled vegetable flavour. Didn’t get the citrus hops that were promised, really quite disappointing.

Cask at Reading Beer Festival on 27 April 2011. Gold colour. Some moderate spicy and citric hop presence throughout but didn’t really have the hop rush that one might expect from an IPA. More like a zesty golden ale really. All in all, decent enough but seemed a little underpowered. Would have liked to try the 7.5% Double IPA version but, unfortunately, it had run out by the time I got round to it.

[Cask at Reading beerfest] Golden, slight white head. Thin mouthfeel. A little orange, a few flowers but rather watery. Rather disappointing - I had hoped for more from my first beer from this new brewery.
