This stout is infused with vanilla pods which complement the dark malts to create a smooth drinking, deliciously dark stout.

August 2016 - Cask handpull at GBBF 2016 as ’Binghams Vanilla Stout’, 5%. Champion Beer of Britain this year. Dark brown, opaque, foamy off-white head. Aroma is vanilla, light coffee notes, some resin. Body is light with tingly carbonation. Taste is chocolate, molasses, some vanilla, light varnish and sweet all the way through. For me, this needed something more to balance the sweetness, but it’s fine. (3.2)

Cask @ Salopian, Shrewsbury, black with a tan head with a slightly sweet taste with a hint of vanilla, and a aftertaste that makes you think of milk chocolate , a nice stout overall.

Cask @ The Three Fishes, Shrewsbury. Pours dark, small tan head. Aroma is lightly sweet, chocolate, faint roast. Taste is smooth, very light milk chocolate, very soft dark malts. No real discernible vanilla in the taste, although there is a subtle sweetness. Decent pintworthy stout, but nothing outstanding.

Cask at Castle Tap Reading. Glad to find this so soon after it won champion beer of Britain. Dark amber appearance. Taste of vanilla obviously but not at all sweet

[GBBF 2016, Olympia] - Bingham ’s Vanilla Stout, 5%. Dunkelbraun, fast schwarz. Championship Beer of Britain 2016.

UPDATED: MAR 2, 2016 Cask at the Hope Tap, Reading. Black with a thin beige head. Light fizz. Vanilla is obvious in the whiff, and I was afeared this may be unbearably sweet. But no- it’s well balanced by the roasty malts and heavy coffee notes of the underlying stout. Incredibly smooth and silky. I love Binghams Doodle Stout and this is a great variant of it (unlike the hot dog version). Like a vanilla latte mixed with the flavour of a creme caramel dessert, but with the sweetness checked just enough by a sprinkling of dark roasted coffee beans and a hint of wood. Nice. Really nice. Possibly even be better than the original version. A superb stout.

Cask conditioned at Fleetwood Beer Festival ’15. Black with cream head. Well there is certainly vanilla in this one, aroma and taste are full of it, an ice-cream sundae of a dark beer. There is a darkly roasted element, drying chocolate malts, hints of bittering, but perhaps the vanilla is just a little too prevalent for me, good though.

Cask at WHOAF 2014, London. It pours a deep brown color with a small beige head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is vanilla notes, quite sweet and rich with chocolate cake and light roasted malts. Taste is quite sweet, again vanilla notes, more dark chocolate and light wood and leather notes. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Overall, nice one
