stouby (1408), Holbaek, Denmark May 4, 2008 Bottle at Oud Arsenaal.
Hazy, light amber with a white head, fine lacings. Aroma moderate malty (caramel, spicy, fruity), yeasty and hoppy (dry). Flavor moderate sweet and bitter, long. Light/medium body.
BoBoChamp (255), Gent, Belgium Jul 23, 2008 33cl, from De Hopduvel Gent, easy to drink, not complex, hazy, good head, nice brew after4ever (1652), Brier, Washington, USA Jul 9, 2008 330. This is a solid, refreshing, and very drinkable little blonde. Pours opaque burnished medium amber with a towering, bubbly platinum blonde head that falls quickly away to a thin head with intermittent rings of lace. The nose is a weirdly skunky candied orange melange...candied skunk? It smells inviting enough, honestly. Get rid of the skunk and there’s really something happening here. Medium body with sharply lively carb--a bit more restraint there would earn another point. Nice oranges and biscuits on the mid-palate. Mild, slightly nutty finish. Not a bad beer at all, though it lacks distinction in its (admittedly quite crowded) field. It may not be memorable compared to some of the other imports that sit aside it on cooler shelves in the US, but it certainly wouldn’t disappoint if it were the main thing on offer. aubreya (653), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Jun 25, 2008 The color was golden. The head was thin, white, and fizzy. The aroma was sweet, caramel, skunky, and rotten citris. The flavor was the same. The palate was average. the finish was waxy. emacgee (976), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Jun 25, 2008 Pours a hazy pale gold. Thin frothy white head. The nose is lightly Belgian, earthy, sweet grassy hops, sweet caramel, smells and tastes like it may be a little old. Flavor is waxy grass and hay, old flavor, sweet. Not a favorite. Linus_Stick (1481), Moon Township, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 9, 2008 A so so Belgian ale. Aroma was good. Strong molasses, malt and pepper. Pour was a dark gold/medium amber with a 2 finger off white head. Taste was thick and syrupy. Maple, caramel malt with a yeasty bite. Nice carbonation with a suprisingly dry lemony aftertaste. Too much going on here.
