The ‘Bink brown’ is the most known ‘Bink beer’. It’s a beer of high fermentation, unfiltered and not pasteurized, with secundary fermentation in the bottle. This tasty beer is appreciated by the lover of brown beers. The ingredients are: four types of malt, one belgian type of hop, brewing liquor and yeast. Our ‘Bink brown’ is a full and softly bitter beer with an aftertaste of sweets and malt. The alcohol content of this ‘little giant’ is 5,5 % vol.alc.

33cl bottle from Bitter Virtue, Southampton. A deep chestnut brown pour with a ring of white head; aroma of Demarara sugar; soft with an off-sweet caramel flavour; the finish has some gentle hoppy bitterness and more caramel.

330 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours very cloudy dark reddish brown color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of raisin, prune, caramel, toast, toffee, light chocolate, dark bread, and earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance, strength, and complexity. Taste of caramel, toast, raisin, prune, toffee, light chocolate, dark bread, molasses, and earthiness. Lingering notes of caramel, raisin, toast, toffee, dark bread, light chocolate, and earth on the finish for a short bit. Good balance and complexity of flavors; but were not as robust as I was hoping; with zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a creamy and lightly slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very good Belgian dark ale. Nice flavor balance and complexity; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

33cl bottle. Brown colour with a beige head with a moderate lasting. Aroma is toasty, caramel and slightly yeasty. Flavor is sweet at the beginning, yeasty, some citrus and dark sugar notes, the final is slightly bittery with a moderate duration. Carbonation is medium. Body is medium to high.

Aroma: A rather weak smell, porridge with nuts and apples, some dust.
Appearance: The brew is dusky brown with red nuances, a warm off-white head leaving little lacing but good curtains.
Taste: Starting with brown bread, then forest fruits, blackberry, a small bitter grape-fruit peel finish.
Palate: Medium high carbonation, a fresh texture, good body and a lighty dry finish.
Overall: A malty yummy beer, goes very well with robust food.
Note: On-tap at Akkurat. Reviewed 2012-04-24.

Test vom 14.1.2011, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 9,9,10,9,9,9 - 9,15

tap at Gingerman (NYC) - Nice brown pour with a wafty head. Sweet caramel candy and butterscotch notes. Creamy body and nice carbonation. Sweet finsh with burnt sugars. This was just too sweet and underattentuated (little giant is 5.5%, really?). Don’t really get much in the way of belgian yeast either.

It poured quietly. The head is a thin, off-white ring. There is no lacing. The body is a murky, dark brown. There are chunks at the bottom. I’m left with a lowly carbonated beer with notes of plum, citrus, caramel, and wood. I thought it to be good, but only overall and mostly due to flavor.
