Dark brown coloured beer with small off-white head. Malty aroma. Full palate. Finish is bit wattery and slightly bitter.

Draught, dark almost black coloured beer with a small off-white head. Rather strange roasted coal aroma. Full palate. FInish is bitter, light roasted sweet malty, at the end stronger, but misses overall some stout character.

Comments: Interesting smoky, chocolatey stout with strong bready yeastiness that can’t avoid metallic undertones in its finish.

Draught Huge beige head, sporting textbook lace over fully black beer. Very nice smoked nose, nearly Rauchbier-like (blind, I’d sworn Spezial...!), smoked ham, a touch of liquorice. Dry, smokey (ashes) rather than smoked taste; cardemom and brown, +/- outfermented sugars. Slightly empty, very dry MF, ending a bit dead for a draught beer. Not a bad beer - not by a mile - but the nose promised me such delights, that I really felt let down further on.

On tap at Bruxellensis 2007. Black colour with lasting tan head. A very charcoaly style stout. Served a little too cold for all of the flavours to come out. Some roasty flavours towards the end. It’s ok.

A Mes rate: Bruxellensis. Black and tan but just not as inviting looking as it should be. Coffee, lots of malt and very sweet. Served way too cold so most of the character is hidden. Could be better but probabaly would be at the right temperature.
