Yet another ripper of a description from Bintara, it’s definitely up to their very high standards. They certainly are unsurpassed when it comes to inappropriate capitalisation. Very high fill on the bottle, clear gold with not much head. Despite their claims, this beer really isn’t all that much "in the Bintara style." Well, it is, but it’s probably the least Bintara-ey of all their products. The reason for this? Barely any diacetyl! Initially I thought there was none but as it warmed it came out. But still, it’s an improvement. Green olives, cinnamon, nice toasty base malt and perhaps the tiniest bit of grassy hop in the aroma. Initial weird flavours like watermelon and Roma tomatoes fade quickly into quite a nice (Vienna?) maltiness, wholemeal bread and good spicy hop. It actually tastes more German than Australian, which is a good thing, but where is the "very Australia taste"??? There’s still quite a bit of weirdness in there, but I get the impression that they’re on the improve (though some might suggest there’s really only one direction for them to go.) Hopefully it’s a sign of better things to come.
