COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Bios Kriek Lambic is sold under the CHERISH label in the USA and outside Europe. Everybody likes the right balance between the sourness of the Lambic and the sweetness of the fruit, in this case cherries. The aroma of the cherries is not too dominant, as it should be. The beer gives a very pleasant and refreshing feeling in the mouth, with a smooth cherry aftertaste. The Bios Kriek Lambic is an excellent thirst quencher, low in alcohol (5 % by volume) and great to drink at parties. True Lambic lovers prefer the Bios Kriek Lambic so much because you taste slightly more of the Lambic sourness, than in some more commercial Belgian Lambics, wherein the artificial sweetness is too strong.

8.4 oz. bottle purchsed at Total Wine, Gilbert, AZ. Pours dark red with lovely pink head. A lot of carbonation. Aroma is of sour cherries and a wild yeasty funkiness you would want and expect from a Belgian lambic. Taste is sour/ sweet/ tart cherries. An explosion of refreshing cherry flavor. Carbonation causes tingling on the tongue. Big tart cherry finish. I realize that it is quite difficult for us to find the really rare Belgian lambics here in the U.S., but this is a really nice Kriek Lambic. My only regret is that it doesn’t come in a larger bottle. Even if you think you don’t like lambics......give this one a try.

A: The beer pours a deep, dark ruby color with a short lived pink head. S: Intensely sweet cherry and cherry candy aroma. Sugar notes with a hint of cough syrup and cough drops. Slightly "dusty", which is really the only sign of funk or real lambic. T: Cherry soda type flavor. Very, very sugary with lots of cherry flavor and a definite artificial character to it. Some cough drops and cough medicine notes to it on the palate as well. M: Medium in body with a moderate carbonation. O: Sort of along the lines of the guilty pleasure type beers, but just too sweet.

Bottle from Beer Planet. Pours clear red with a red/pink head. This is the first time ever I agree, the commercial description is right on, regarding aroma and taste. Much better than expected.

Bottle. Pours a deep garnet and ruby color with a medium sized pink head. Big cherry cough drop aromas hit right away. Smells a bit cloying and artificial. Medium bodied, definitely sweet, but not quite as cloying as I had feared. Certainly sugared up, but not to the level of some of the other sweetened ones (Lindemans, Timmerman, et al). Still a bit too sweet for me, but tolerable at least. Big cherry flavors and sweet cherry candy, lingering cherry hangs out in the gums while a bit of sweet tart acidity hits the back of the tongue. Another one of those sweetened lambics that make a tolerable soda, but a subpar beer.

Bottle under the Cherish label. My very first Belgian lambic, so my palate isn’t refined with them yet...please bare with me! Pale red/brown color with virtually no head. Aroma is greatly complex and balanced with notes of sour cherries, sugar cookies, booze, and doughy yeast. Even reminds me slightly of cough syrup...but not in a bad way. Taste is certainly interesting, unique, and a little strange to me. Holding it in the mouth gives a nice, medium carbonated feel that gives way to an initial blast of sourness cut with some metal before finishing bittersweet and sticky with a flood of cherry that lingers long. There’s also a very very late flavor long after swallowing that I’m having trouble putting into words. Bizarre and interesting beer. But I like it, will try more lambics!

8.4 oz. bottle. Aroma of sweet marichino (?) cherries. A very dark red pour with a pinkish red head that lasts a short while. Cherry defines this beer. However, it is sugary sweet cherry and there is almost no sourness. Very late some black cherry was noted. I tend to like sweeter beers and thus did not find this offensive. However, this was too sweet for me.

Bottle - slightly cloudy, deep red. Tart cherry with a sour lambic finish. It’s a little thin palatewise, but that actually prevents it from being overwhelming. Very drinkable. I’m drinking it a little too cold so I’m not getting a lot of aroma.
