COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Bios Kriek Lambic is sold under the CHERISH label in the USA and outside Europe. Everybody likes the right balance between the sourness of the Lambic and the sweetness of the fruit, in this case cherries. The aroma of the cherries is not too dominant, as it should be. The beer gives a very pleasant and refreshing feeling in the mouth, with a smooth cherry aftertaste. The Bios Kriek Lambic is an excellent thirst quencher, low in alcohol (5 % by volume) and great to drink at parties. True Lambic lovers prefer the Bios Kriek Lambic so much because you taste slightly more of the Lambic sourness, than in some more commercial Belgian Lambics, wherein the artificial sweetness is too strong.

Hazy light red, with small white head. Aroma is sweet cherry -- maraschino? Taste is cherry -- starts sweet, finishes sour. Some mild astringency in the swallow/aftertaste.

Bottle, bought @ Bierpaleis, Brügge.
Pours muddy brownish red with a dark pink, small and frothy head. Aroma has notes of cellar, cherries, light tartness, malts, plums and a touch of strawberries. Medium carbonation, a bit thinish mouthfeel. Flavour is nicely fruity tart, light notes of almonds, citric and cherries. A touch of fruity sweetness in the end. A bit like the Melborn Brothers cherry.

[Cherish bottle] Aroma of cherry, with a slight sour component. Color of ripe apricot with a white head that’s hardly present. Starts with a combination of cherry, sweet and sour. Very well balanced. Carbonation is low. Mouthfeel develops well with swishing.

Draught: Unclear dark red coloured. Pink head with long lasting. Gum and cherries in the aroma. Slightly sweet. Flavour is cherries and a almost nauseating sweetness with no balance by sourness. Not as fresh as other Kriekbiers but still a decent summerbeer.

Bottle... Cloudy amber ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. The nose is of fresh black cherries. Nice, balanced, fruity flavor. Not too sweet; not too tart... just right! ... until an artificial saccharin-like aftertaste kicks in. Medium-bodied with medium carbonation. Fruity, artificially sweetened finish.

Bottled, 330ml from Hopduvel Warehouse, Ghent. Pinky brown with vaguely pink head. Cherry aroma which follows into the beer, I was hoping for Lambic and cherry sourness, but got a sweet perfumey almost artificial flavour. Lacks bite, disappointed.

light hazy dark reddish in colour, the fine reddish foam quickly reduces, strong aroma of sour cherries, touch of vinegar. strong sweetness partially balanced by a tart sourness, long cherryish, sweet and sour finish - tasty

A Sim rate (bottled from the Belgian Belly): Glorious sweet kriek aroma with sour hints. Similar in the flavour. Tangy and slightly acidic in a balsamic vinegar Rodenbach Grand Cru kind of way. Almost spirit like rather than beer like.

Draught at Den Tatoverede Enke, RBESG Pub Crawl, August 2005. Vibrant pink colour. Lots of cherry but its of the cough syrup/cherry bomb boiled sweet type and tastes rather artificial. Plus its way too sweet and the balancing sourness doesn’t come through very strongly, except in the aftertaste, where it lingers far longer than the fruit. Not well balanced. As a fruity drink I suppose its pleasant enough, as a kriek its not too impressive.
