Also called “Monk’s Café Flemish Sour Red Ale”

We blend young and old beers to make this mildy tart sour ale. Light bodied with a lactic/sour nose and a bit of sweet and sour in the finish. Very refreshing!

As "Monk’s Cafe Flemish Sour Red Ale." On tap. Pours a deep cranberry color with a ring of khaki head and nice lacing. Nose is quite oaky with cherries, red wine grapes and other dark fruit notes. A decent amount of tartness, though not overly so, with a fair sweetness. Lighter side of medium bodied with an active carbonation and a refreshing dry finish. Very cool beer that’s great on its own or with food.

Sour cherry aroma evident in the body with a bit of clove. Pretty simple sour ale, but non-offensive.

On draft at HopCat in Ann Arbor. In prep for Rare Day tomorrow. Labeled an oud bruin, I'm not sure. The pour is a dark brown with hints of ruby and a nice egg shell colored film of head with no lace. The aroma is more funky than tart. It's weird. There is a strange odor to this because there is nothing that takes precedence. There is a funkiness to it that I hope works out. The flavor is strange. Hoppy and funky with no real sourness to it. It's got a little yeastiness and some hints at a tart, but it's plain and lacking. There is a light brown character to it. The mouth feel is thin and slick. It's not well carbonated and carries a lingering maltiness. Not very good from an oud bruin status. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle shared thanks to kermis, let’s get him to 8k tasting. Very dark reddish brown, big fluffy beige head. Cardboard, few days old coffee, rotten red fruits, soft balsamico. So far so mediocre, finish has ash, rotten cardboard, earth, gasoline. Light sweet and sour with nasty bitter finish. Over medium bodied with soft velvety feel. Nasty.

Dyp brun noe tåkete med lavt lys brunt skum. Lukter solbær, kursebær, svisker og noe animalsk lukt. Smaker syrlig surt, kirsebær og solbær, lett bitterhet.

Pours a reddish brown from a bottle, tan head with lots of lacing. Aroma of grapes, sour apple, a bit of barnyard. Flavor is big on grapes, some brett, then with a flash of toasted bread towards the end. Somewhat sour, not heavy not light. Somewhat thin, which didn’t seem to go well, the beer seemed to want to be heavier than it was. Very good beer.
