3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours dark brown with a red hue and a very slight off-white head. The aroma contains apple, vinegar, basement aromas and barnyard, even some cherries. It tastes medium sweet to heavy sour. The body is medium to light but the nice carbonation makes up for it. Interesting beer.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured a mahogany red with bits off grey lacing. Aroma of sweet malt, yeast, caramel, cherry and nut. Acidic and sour, it isn’t fruity but tastes more like sour candy. Subdued. Enjoyable. Couldn’t drink more than one of these.

3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
palatable, I drank a bottle at Waldo Pizza but moved on. if it were the only sour ale on the shelf I would certainly choose it above most other styles but I really like sour ales, medium Body, and indistinct aroma. Clean palate and no lingering after taste. Appearance is fine, taste is nothing to write home about, no where near as impressive as the Trois Grande Dame.

Shared 11.2 oz. bottle. As Monk’s Cafe Flemish Sour Ale. Reddish brown, with an immense pillowy head. Sour cherry aroma, with a little funk.. Tart cherry taste. A bit medicinal. Much more sour than sweet.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Aroma: fruity, cherry, but not too Robitussin-like;sweet; Appearance: huge head that’s more like egg nog than beer; head dissipates slowly leaving spotty lacing behind; dark red-brown; Taste: sour dominates over sweetness; cherry undertones; refreshing; maybe a tad too sour; Palate: medium body with long, sweet finish; Overall: a good sour ale, but not my favorite; would probably not buy again.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle @ home. Ramata carica quasi marrone schiuma beige grossolana non molto persistente. Aroma complesso ma non molto intenso. Tostato, acetico, fruttato di ribes e mirtillo. Legno e vaniglia sono presenti. Gusto acido, abboccato, poco maro e leggermente tostato. Finale improvviso fruttato e acetico.

3.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Btl pours a dark brown color with ruby highlights. Big thick, creamy, off white head that lasts for some time leaving huge curtains of lace on glass. Aromas of malt vinegar, over ripe apples and cherries and a hint of nail polish/alcohol. Tastes of dark fruits like sweet cherries, dates, figs, and sweet red wine. The sour flavors taste like the stuff inside the candy zots. Medium body, soft creamy mouthfeel, nice carbonation and a dry, tart finish. This beer had a pleasantly surprising flavor profile. At the very first whiff of the aromas I felt this beer was not going to be very good. Then after the first taste I was confused. How can a beer that smells so weird can end up tasting this fantastic? The sweet fruity body rounds out tartness. This turned out to be an easy drinking, tasty, smooth sour ale!
