3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
11.2 oz bottle
This deep brown colored liquid poured into my glass created a rich foamy head and light carbonation. The head soon dissolved leaving behind no trace of the tan colored foam. Hints of the sourness wafted out of the glass along with an earthiness and cherries. On sipping it, there was a distinct sourness combined with a toned down earthy flavor. Next, a nutty tartness evolved into a sweet cherry taste. Finally there were vanilla tones left on the tongue. This was exceptionally easy to drink, going down smoothly. It might be a little thin but it compares well to the New Glarus Unplugged Sour Brown Ale.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Total Wine thanks to Gail! Snifter at hour. Deep reddish brown pour with a thin head that disappeared quickly. Lots of sediment. Aroma of cherries, apples, pears and an almost toasted nut. Acidic as well on the nose. The taste is more mild than expected. Wild cherries, sour apples, vinegar, acids, and yeasts. Medium body, light carbonation. Not bad overall.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tap: solid, burnt ruby color with some mahogany; mild translucency, topped with a very small, beige ring that sifts away in no time. Aroma contains juicy, ripe apples & cherries with some residual, cider-y sweetness & a mild touch of tartness. Light berry, black cherry, acetic acid, oak, & vinegar pops out with some time. Very, very mild "wet hay’ funk quality. Taste is only mildly tart, mostly sweet with some residual sugar notes. Lightly vinous, heavy grape, fruit juice-like. Some cherries, grape skins, & light oak in the finish. More sweet than sour, despite the name. Nice beginner sour brew, but it is quickly forgotten.

Beautiful dark red color. Sourness isn’t overpowering and it balances well with the other flavors.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
The color is attractive. As close to brown as red can get. However, the giant chunks of sediment are a bit off-putting. Aggressive carbonation tingles on the the tongue. This is, indeed, sour, but not unpleasantly so. A touch of caramel and even a fruity finish. But sour is by far the dominating note.
I feel like this is going to be a hit or miss. You’ll love it or hate it, depending on your individual feelings toward sourness.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Monk’s Cafe bottle. Pours a deep orangish red. Minimal head. Flavor is mildly tart, jolly ranchers, just a hint of funk. Light bodied and slightly fizzy. This is a smooth easy sipper. Fisher-Price, my first sour.

On tap at Valhalla under the Monk’s Cafe name. First taste was vinegar, didn’t like it. The more sips I take, the more I get sour cherries and the better it is.

I had this at Global Brew. Called "Monks Cafe". Pours reddish-brown with a tan head. Taste sour, tart, cherry. I thought this was very good. I would definitely drink this again.

Opaque redbrown color, creamy tan head, vanishes gradually, leaves patches lacing; light fruity nose, sour cherry, citrus; medium sweet taste with sour undertones; medium body, smooth mouthfeel, lively carbonation; mild and fresh dry finish with slight sweetness.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This is my first sour beer. I like it. Poured from a bottle into a Sniffer. Pours a dark red with a bubbly head with pieces of something floating around. The head lingers with nice lacing. Smells likes a dry cider. The taste is very good with a hint of cider and a smooth flow. Feels great on the palete, light and dry. I found out I like sours.
