Lazy Bird captures the essence of what it means to be an American Brown Ale. It pours a mahogany brown with a noticeable lemony yet roasty aroma, which comes from a heavy amount of cascade hops at the end of the boil as well as a generous amount of roasted barley in the mash. This combination of malt and hop intricacy makes for an enjoyable beer year round.

UPDATED: MAR 6, 2014 Draft: pours a very dark brown with a small kith tan head. Aromas are like sweet roasted bread, the flavor is much the same... Nice malty, bready... Great brown ale.

On tap @ Birdsong with jcnielsen. Pours a hazy reddish brown appearance with a tan head. Toast, nuts, and a bit of smoke in the nose. Quite sweet. Shit, it finishes very sweet. Kind of jumps up on you. Toffee offered as well. Some Fuggles. No.

On tap at the brewery. Pours brown with a burgundy hue. Mildly roasty aroma with earthy coffee beans. Flavor is full of nutty malt with dark bitter chocolate. Mild roast lingers with an earthy and caramel finish. Really good.

A hazed brown ale with a thin creamy mocha head. In aroma, nice roasted coffee malt with floral hops, very nice. In mouth, good roasted malt with coffee grind, nice hopping, well done.

Pours brown with some haze and one finger of sandy tan head. Earthy and bready malt nose. Most of the usual suspects in there. Earthy/bready malt in the flavor. A good bit of a bite shows as well. Much more than expected. On the dry side with a light showing of dactyl and biscuity notes. Light bodied and dry with a moderate bitterness on the finish.

Tap at beer study. Mahogany amberish with a thick foamy white head. Nose is roasty, light fruit, toasted malts. Flavor is similar, nice roast, a little nutty, mild cocoa finish. One of the better browns I have had. Nice work, bros.

on draft midwinter beer warmer asheville. at least i believe this is the right one. pour was dark brown with whitish head. decent aroma of malts and some nuttiness. the flavor fell in line with brown ale and nutbrowns slightly roasted malts and some nuttiness in the flavor pretty decent overall. hops were mild enough not to overpower the malts and bits of chocolate.

Location: Draft at Revolution, 12/9/12

Aroma: The nose has some nutty notes, toasted malts, some earth, and a little spice
Appearance: This one pours a light brown color with a small head and some heavy lace
Flavor: The flavor is similar to the nose, malty and nutty, with light sweetness and light bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, leaning light, with a solid mouthfeel, and a fairly average carbonation
Overall Impression: I thought it was pretty good. I didn’t get a ton of chocolate, and thus, I didn’t mention it, but there’s a little bit present. Overall, this is another nice offering from Birdsong. I enjoyed both of their beers that I tried on my trip to Charlotte, and will certainly look for their stuff in the future when I’m back in the area.
