Draught at the brewery. Clear amber, small head. Roasty and perfumy with notes of cinnamon. Evident crystal malt character gives it a slight hard edge. Dusty salty finish.

Bottled (thanks to oh6gdx for this one).Dark golden in color. No head. The aroma consists of corn and malt. The flavor is malty and some kind of artificial sweetner. Hmmm...

An amber pour with a copper tint. There’s nothing much in the way of head, but at least this isn’t as overly carbonated as are so many of the Birkenhead beers. It wears a nose of faint malts, light biscuit and peach, but it lacks the traditional sharp marmalade aroma. Mostly sweet in the mouth, with slim pickings on the hop front. Finishes malty and develops a dry end but there’s simply too little bitter in this bitter. Maybe the should just relabel this a mild. Not terrible though.

..Happy to find a new Birkenhead beer in the cooler at Aroma bottleshop, Claremont .. . Pours a dark tan .. lacing is just ace! .. light bitterness .. a decent bitter and a nice addition to the pretty scarce hopped beers SA .. I just bet that on cask this would be awesome! .. . ..Happy to find a new Birkenhead beer in the cooler at Aroma bottleshop, Claremont .. . Bottle from the brewery. Brown to reddish beer with small white head. Caramel, earthy hops, toffee in aroma leading to a thin and pretty bitter taste. Some roasted notes sneeks in also. Quite bitter to SA standards and really drinkable. It lacks somewhat in MF department and it seems like it would be a lot better without the heavy filtration. But all in all a nice beer in a country with very few hoppy beers.

courtesy of Per Forsgren - clear red-amber colour with no foam left; aroma of popcorn; moderate malt body; some sweetness and a late earthy tartness; the finish is quite tasteless and corny - what a poor beer!

12oz bottle, courtesy of omhper. Thanks, Per! Pours a pretty solid appearance; bright golden-orange; off-white head with patchy fine-bubbled lacing. Not much in the aroma: wet grains and some ripe fruits; watery and a touch metallic. Light-to-medium mouthfeel: watery wet grains, sugar, and some basic fruity malts; one-dimensional, metallic, and very light-bodied and underdeveloped; not offensive, but not very good; the metallic note gains prevalence as it warms. Medium finish, showing stale bread and metal.

Clear amber color, not much head. Pear and lime in the nose. Grassy, a bit caramelly, very odd beer - English bitter? No.

Bottled (thanks omhper!). Amber colour, not much head. Aroma is earth, some mild fruity and parfume. Flavour is grass, some not sweet caramel and very malty. Also some salt watery hints. Quite strange, and not too nice.
