3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 hopscotch (7272) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - FEB 4, 2012
Bottle… Pours dark and burnt-orange when held to light with a small, frothy, off-white head. Good retention. The aroma offers chocolate and fudge intermingled with herbal and orange peel aspects. Medium to full-bodied with tingly carbonation. The flavor presents prominent notes of singed caramel and ethanol nearly eclipsing a subtle shade of milk chocolate. Boozy, buttery toffee finish. Clear brown of color with a tiny off white head. An aroma with sugar, spice and candy. A flavor with sweets, port, spice, raisins and weak bitter finish.

Bottle 75 cl. Hazy amber with a tiny off-white head. Brown sugar dominates the nose, a little nuts too and a vague whiff of yeast. Quite full-bodied but hardly any carbonation. Again lots of brown sugar and nuts with a warming alcohol in the finish with hardly any hops. 231211
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20 dreadnord (127) - Castel Volturno, ITALY - DEC 25, 2011
Pours dark brown with a huge tan head. The nose is old grass and coffee. Some chocolate and hints of oxidation but not much. Taste is bitter at first but gives way to some sweetness followed by more bitter. Mouthfeel is thin. This feels like a porter or low alc stout. Drinkable though.

Tap at Kickback’s in Jax, FL. The pour is a hazy clear amber orange with a healthy beige head. Nice lacing. Nose is slightly olive brine with sweet strawberry, earth, lemon, old caramel. All over the place. Taste is tart up front. Spritzy, lemony, sharp. Decently acidic and sour. Citric and Belgian in profile creates something extremely similar to a BFM sour. Pretty decent. Sour ale for all practical purposes.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 WISEGUY572 (1360) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 4, 2011
Somewhat confused beer. Orange and spice like a tripel, dried fruit spiciness and rich dark flavors and aromas like a quad, with perhaps a hint of lactic sourness like a lambic. No reason it has to adhere to any specific style ... some of my favorites are American hopped tripels, or lambic IPAs, or any of the complex hybrids that seem to be popping up all over. Maybe just a tad more alcoholic than I expected. Nice, drinkable, great complement for the duck I and jerked chicken that I served with it.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 sayravai (4518) - Helsinki, FINLAND - AUG 13, 2011
(Bottled, 0.75l, 2009 vintage) Clear, dark reddish color with a small but firm, tanned head (murky brown with yeast). Aroma of dried fruit, orange-peel, Belgian-style yeast, some anise, quite Xmasy. Flavor is also Xmas-spicy with cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, coriander, toffee-caramely malt, dried fruit. Tiny hint of vegetably roughness. Medium+ body with low, soft CO2 - maybe slightly thin, but easy to drink and hides the ABV very well. A well-made, clean and easy-going Xmas beer. Gets even better and smoother with yeast - really nice stuff! 5236

Aromas of orange. Flavors of tea and orange. Light on the palate. Hides the 9.5% really well. Overall pretty good.
