(Bottled, 0.75l, 2009 vintage) Clear, dark reddish color with a small but firm, tanned head (murky brown with yeast). Aroma of dried fruit, orange-peel, Belgian-style yeast, some anise, quite Xmasy. Flavor is also Xmas-spicy with cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, coriander, toffee-caramely malt, dried fruit. Tiny hint of vegetably roughness. Medium+ body with low, soft CO2 - maybe slightly thin, but easy to drink and hides the ABV very well. A well-made, clean and easy-going Xmas beer. Gets even better and smoother with yeast - really nice stuff! 5236

Aromas of orange. Flavors of tea and orange. Light on the palate. Hides the 9.5% really well. Overall pretty good.

Beerlando (3342) - Orlando, Florida, USA - MAR 2, 2011
12.7 oz. bottle, fresh off the boat. Pours a dark and lightly hazy rusty sienna color with a moderate, fading head of beige froth. Settling to a thin film with a dense, bubbly ring around the edge, the head leaves sticky, tissue-thin flares and rounded, wet globs of lacing behind. The nose is primarily based in notes of scorched honey and sweet, glazed raisin bread malt. There’s a touch of grain of paradise, along with some orange pith, coriander, and perhaps some indiscernible, darkly caramelized (grilled) tropical fruit. Flavors are nicely balanced between sweet notes of dark honey, caramel, multigrain bread dough, and rum raisin, and then more bitter notes of orange rind and peppery floral spices. It is all drawn together quite nicely by a creamy Belgian yeast profile. Speaking of creamy, the body is soft, whipped, and velvety on the tongue. Carbonation is light, showing just a hint of a tingle at the back of the throat. Despite it’s heft, it doesn’t come across all that sticky. Instead, some welcomed oxidation lends a bit of a drying, papery feel amidst the moderate substance. Interesting brew. Pretty solid.

75 cl bottle at Lord Hobo. Pours hazy dark brown with a small tan head. Dark roasted malty, nutty, slight fruity and wineous. Fruity and yeasty. Spiced and semi dry herbal into the finish. Ends spiced, dark malty and yeasty.

La Birra del Borgo di Natale non delude mai e quest’anno la troviamo in forma come non mai. Un bel dolcione natalizio.

Acquistata in bottiglia al bir&fud, è stata la birra più gradita della serata, anche se personalmente non condivido l’entusiasmo generale che ha suscitato. Aroma un po’ evanescente, in bocca ben bilanciata ma un po’ vuota nel finale.

Servita a temperatura ambiente da il meglio di sè. Io personalmente l’ho presa al Birrifugio trasteverino e me l’hanno servita troppo fredda. L’aroma e il sapore sono molto meno decisi e marcati sul dolce, se paragonati ad altre birre bevute quella sera (come la Bush de Noel), ma nel complesso meglio equilibrati. Il finale leggermente luppolato lascia la bocca fresca senza quel dolciatsro appiccicoso che personalmente detesto. Per me ottima, anche l’alcol si nasconde bene.

Assaggiata all’O Connor grazie al gentile Maurizio . Buona natalizia del birrificio del Borgo, altro nin zo che dire perchè dal 29/12 a oggi ho bevuto altre 25 birre =)

On tap at Ma Che Siete Venuti a Fa, many thanks to the hospitality of Manuele. Dark brown with cream head. This had moved to a slightly soured beer, but you could still tell the sweetish maltiness and spice notes. There was soured tartness with a yeasty edge. Somewhat challenging.
