2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 beerenauslese (3) - California, USA - DEC 13, 2011 does not count
This bottle was obtained from the Bir & Fud bottle shop in May, 2011. This was a commemorative beer for the 1st year of the 2nd Bir & Fud and has a consume by date of December 2009. Given as a gift, it was already a year and a half past that date when I got it, and now 2 years later. It popped when opened, so I was surprised it has absolutely no carbonation left. Aroma is funky with some wet horseblanket, orange zest, grapes. Tastes of light bready malt, brett, orange rind, honey, and cinnamon spice. This now has more of a lambic appearance, totally flat with no carbonation. No doubt more of a beer then than it is now, but still tastes pretty good if you can get by the lack of carbonation and think of it more as a lambic, though one that is sweet and bitter.
