After the Equilibrista, our beer inspired by the Champagne world, here it is a new experiment on the “wine meets beer” theme. This time, though, we tipped the scales in favour of beer, adding to the Duchessa wort only a 25% of wine must: in this case we used Malvasia (coming from our friends of Tenuta di Bibbiano, as usual), a white, aromatic grape variety which gives the beer a gentle and nice sharpness and an inusual, fruity nose. The beer is bottle-fermentd using Champagne-yeasts, and it has a quite intense “perlage” (bubbles) that makes it perfect as an aperitif or even for the whole meal. The “chaotic” label was designed by Valentina De Luca, an Art student at the Istituto d’Istruzione Superiore Antonio Cederna of Velletri (Rome), who won our contest “Etichette Bizzarre”.

4oz pour at Pizzeria Paradiso - Dupont. Poured a light amber color with a small, fizzy white head. Light crisp apple, champagne notes, light white wine. Flavor was similar, lots of white wine must notes. Finish had some tartness.

Tap at Ginger Man. Pale gold, clear, but of orange, flat. Soft white grape aroma, a bit of acid, some citrus. Sweet, bready falvor, grapes, biscuit, just a bit funky. Weird but fun. Would be better is a bit more tart.

4 oz draft pour at ChurchKey. Hazy golden yellow with off-white head. Aromas of apples, white grapes, wine. Tastes of berries, grapes, wine, apples, light tart fruit, kind of cider-ish. Medium-light body with a dry finish.

Very nice note of honey in these. White wine definitely makes a presence. Finishes lightly sweet. Pours very pale golden with good head and lacing. Thanks to MrChopin for a taste of this. Tap at Churchkey sour event.

Scopey 5K Tasting in deepest Croydonia. Thanks to Theydon of Bois. Hazy gold beer, few white bubbles for a head. Palate is light and dry. Light winey grapes, tangy and dry. Light sweetness underneath. Whisper of aniseed. Light dry finish. Not bad.
