Esperimento curioso ma non del tutto riuscito, risulta una birra contraddittoria e ardua da decifrare.

Hazy golden with a big white sustained white head, nice lacing... Lemony very very tart, sweet tart aroma, light pepper... TArt sprees, lemony, dry, medium body, amazing flavor, great yeasty fruity Saison flavor then a punch to the face of brashness... Medium body dry finish... Awesome awesome...

Bottle from motortoddhead...THANKS TODD! - Pours hazy orange amber with a huge fluffy off-white head. Lightly skunked on the nose with a sublte spiciness, citrus rind, lemongrass, and a dusty yeastiness. Tastes just like a saison blended with gueuze...damn. Has all that dusty yeastiness and light spicing with a nice building citric tartness. Dry as hell with all citrus rind on the finish. Tons of carbonation that fills up the mouth--bordering on too much, but it actually just fluffs the whole thing up. Tart and refreshing...man, this stuff is awesome.

Bottle with a best before date of 07-2013 thanks to the brewers at Eataly. Pours with a hazy yellow hued body and a lasting, frothy white head. Aromas are of rich funk, floral, estery, orange peel with medium grain. Flavors show a mild acidity, medium esters, rich funk, strawberry and citrus. Bone dry, a touch thin, lively bubbles. Very tasty.

Pours light copper with a large white head. The aroma has sharp citrus, peach/nectarine, earthy yeast, must and lots of peppery phenols. Medium body that is very crisp with quite a bit of carbonation at the end. The flavor starts much like the aroma with the fruitiness, but is a bit sharper and biting. The lambic doesn’t really stand out, but I haven’t had the original version to see what changes it made. The finish has a nice lemony bite, is very peppery and quite refreshing. Very well made saison.

This beer pours a slightly hazy yellow-gold color with a medium fizzy white head that burns away steadily to a film. Short stringy lacing on the glass. Tart fruit, frunky yeast and wheat in the nose. Light, effervescent body with flavors of lemon, wheat, yeast and bit of pepper. The finish is fruity with a tart apple aftertaste. Above average overall.

375mL. GUSHER!! Pours a cloudy, glowing light yellow with a billowing white head with excellent retention and scant lace. Excellent tangerine and lemon nose with subtle hints of white grapefruit from the lambic. Soft floral notes. Taste is wildly quenching like soft lemonade and a ton of overlap with Jolly Pumpkin Bam Biere. Maybe small hints of eggy sulfur and tart tangerine. Really soft and hot summer day quenching. Perfect for the style. Lightyears better than the normal Duchessa.

12.7 ounce bottle, 07 2013 stamped on the back label (I guess that’s the best by date). Served in a tulip, the beer pours a hazy gold color with a couple inch frothy white head that stays around for a long time. There’s also a good amount of lacing. The aroma is nice, it smells like peppery spice, lemon peel, pears, hay, wheat and some funk. It tastes like lemon peel, wheat, peppery spice, slightly tart lemons, apricots, white grapes and funk. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, with high (a little bit too high for me) but soft carbonation. I think this is a good saison/lambic blend. It’s pricey at $9.99 a bottle but I’d buy this brew again, I liked it.

In terms of Lambics, Birra del Borgo’s offering is up there with the top contenders. It strikes a perfect balance between the two worlds of a saison and a lambic. Blends the doughy yeast and complex sours quite gracefully. Complex beer, full of different flavor, very refreshing.
