Draft at Churchkey. I was really looking forward to trying an Italian saison (a nice change of pace from barleywines), but this one was disappointing. Aroma of very subtle lemon. Taste is lemonade and soda water. Not very saison-like.

Bottle. Slightly hazy golden with big off-white head. Aroma is malt, fruit, hops and a little floral. Flavour is malt, medium sweet, hops, spices, little floral, little citrus and a little bitter.

On tap. Pours with a very lightly hazed golden yellow hue with a white head. Aromas are floral, perfumey, coriander, potpourri, lightly grainy, vanilla. Flavors are of lavender and coriander. Mild phenols, light fruit, perfume and a bit grainy. Crisp, lively bubbles (too lively), dry. Tasty.

Medium, whitish head over hazed orange beer. Citrus (orange), wheat, spices, orangeliqueur. Again citrus & wheat (or speciality grain...) mainly; possibly coriander, but restrained (enough). Still perfumey, and rather slanted towards the artificial. Warming up, ginger. Soft, velvety MF despite the more than adequate carbonation. The problem with del Borgo - and more Italian craftbrewers - is that their flavours are often a bit forced. This is no exception.

2009-06-07. Hazy golden body, small white head. Aroma is mild, interesting floral character, light hops, mild pale malt. (6+) Flavour is mild, light bitterness has an interesting not quite tangy note. Mild pale malts, light sort of floral but not quite character that lingers in the finish and aftertaste. Average to light palate. Okay. Bottle, Mondial 2009, Montreal

100ml sample, 6% abv., from tap at Open Baladin. Unclear amber with a layer at the top. Fragile lacing. Fruity nose with lighter notes of spices. Mild juicy fruits in flavour added by semi-tart apples. Sweet and spicy to the swallow. Summer feel and session-like (Roma 31.03.2012).
